I'm after some advice from anyone who has installed a vacuum controlled exhaust. I'm in Australia so no shops with experience and I have a GT Haus midpipe and vacuum controlled muffler set with wireless remote to install.
The standard install method seems to be to get vacuum from the intake manifold and mount the vacuum relay somewhere in the engine bay - does anyone have any photos of this? Some other systems seem to have a vacuum tank and not sure if installing without one will affect anything related to vacuum pressures.
Running a Dorman pump seems like a neat idea and could set this up in one of the boot compartments with power from the amp and try to run vacuum line through the boot floor? No excess vacuum lines in engine bay and no chance of vacuum leak!
^^^^You don't need to use the remote. I have the PPE Dual Mode exhaust. I programmed my valves to work off the Homelink controls on my mirror. It's easy to copy the remote to the mirror, and the control is always accessible.
I think there is an OBD PID for sports mode which should be able to open the valves when this is activated. Might be too much work and pretty sure valves will be always open anyway!
You can buy a Homelink mirror and add it off ebay. Most of the Lexus one are made by a Company called Gentex. Some you don't have to change the wire connector plug. Some you do. You should already have a 12v connection at the mirror and most come with the matching connector to wire in.

damn I had no clue you can do that. I just did it!! Thank you for the suggestion

Need to check and see if Australia uses the same radio frequencies before buying something like this from a US seller. Might be a total waste of time and money if you don't. Lots of global part numbers for keyless entry just for this reason.
I have been looking at OBD codes in OBD fusion and in the extended PIDs there are items the work with settings of both sport and TVD mode. Might make a seperate post about this down the track.

Thanks for the photos NotnFsport, I installed as per your guide and all worked well. Only problem I had was the GTHaus valves are normally open and only close when exposed to vacuum which makes the start up very loud!
I ended up installing a Dorman Vacuum canister which has enough reserve to close the valves when the ignition is turned on and before the engine cranks which makes it much quieter. (https://www.dormanproducts.com/p-5919-47076.aspx). This units fits perfectly behind the grill just next to the control unit.

ahhh I see. Yeah my Novel is the opposite...start ups the valves are closed.

Hi mate, this is exactly what I'm looking for. Start-up is too loud for 1-2sec until the vacuum valve closes. And the valve often opens when driving uphill because of insufficient back pressure. Your link takes to me the Dorman site which suggests it's incompatible with GSF? I'm also located in Aus - where did you source this from?
Congratulations on the purchase, another one in Australia!
I purchased it on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com.au/Dorman-HEL.../dp/B000COB8FA). You can really use any vacuum canister for this purpose. There is no stock unit on the car so the Dorman site will say it's not compatible. I just installed it inline from where I plumbed into the vacuum line and before the actuator.
It's no a perfect solution, if I haven't started the car in a couple of days I think it looses vacuum and it's still loud. The quickest way to get it quite is just to shift out of park into drive.
