Default Unofficial model year differences 16'-19'

Could this get stickied? As more and more GSF enter the used market, we have users who want to know what the differences are between the 16-19 model years.
So, I took it upon myself to look at all the technical specifications and highlight the changes that were noted by Lexus themselves. In other words, I read and got the information directly from Lexus's brochure and product information for each model year.

NOTE: This only includes US models and if I missed something feel free to correct me. If anyone can get me the tech specs sheets from each country I would gladly edit the post to include those.

2016 - First year production
This being first year, there are no changes but the options for all MY are:
- Orange Calipers
- Mark Levinson Surround System
- LSS+
- *** Heads up display (HUD) was optional for the 2016.

2017
- First MY offering the Smokey Granite Mica Paint Color
- F- Adaptive Variable Suspension (F-AVS)
- First MY offering optional Painted BBS 19" Forged Wheels
- Colored Heads-up Display (HUD) now standard.

2018
- Stratus Grey Interior no longer offered
- Advanced cruise control changed to All Speed Cruise Control
- Lane Depart Alert (LDA) with steering assist with new addition of Lane Keep Assist
- 1 year complimentary Enform subscription expanded to 10 years.

2019
- Molten Pearl color discontinued
- First MY offering Flare Yellow paint color
- 10th Anniversary Special Edition, 100 produced for the US.
  • Nebula Grey Matte Paint
  • Polished Black 19" BBS Forged Wheels
  • Blue Brembo brake calipers
  • F logo side mirror projector lamps
  • Bespoke Fuji Blue Interior
  • Blue Carbon trim
  • Blue seat belts
  • 10th Anniversary plate
2020
- Matte black wheels now standard
- Blue calipers now optional
- Orange calipers discontinued
- Side mirrors changed to all black instead of grey
- B pillars changed to all black instead of grey
- White seats with black inserts now an option
- Minor suspension changes to steering bushings and rear control arm brackets

<<2018
- Lane Depart Alert (LDA) with lane keep assist with the new addition of Steering Assist (Interesting thing to note, Lexus lists the steering assist feature as included with the 2016 GSF in their brochure but that is incorrect..)>>

FWIW, I believe the '16s do have Steering Assist; at least mine will correct steering when the LDA is switched ON.

That's actually interesting. My 17' doesn't have steering assist, it'll beep to let me know i'm crossing the line but it doesn't vibrate and steer itself like my RX does.

If 2016's do infact have it, I wonder why 2017's excluded from having them, for them to be introduced again in 2018?

My 2016 has steering assist as well. I’ve never noticed a vibration. The steering correction is not as pronounced as the 2019 RX I had as a loaner but it’s still there

Well then, I don't know why Lexus made it a point to include that feature as something new in their 2018 MY. Unless the system is completely different? Not sure but its in the 2018 technical sheet as a new feature. So IDK?

So...I believe on my '16 the steering will only self correct once within a period of time and is meant to guard against unintended lane changes. On the '18s, the steering continuously corrects, hence the upgrade from Steering Assist to Lane Keeping Assist?

Thats what I’m guessing. Now that you mention it, my RX I can touch the wheel slightly with my fingers as to trick the system that I’m holding on to the wheel and the steering wheel will move on it’s own to stay centered in the lane, sort of a self driving thing but not really. So I think that’s what was added to the 2018.

That’s got to be it. My 16 barely corrects if I veer out of a lane. The 19 RX practically steered itself Tesla style in a sense. That must be what was added to the 2018s

There was a calibration out there that corrected this. Mine did the same as yours but after the calibration it very visibly pulled itself back into the lane. The difference between 16 and later years was that LSS+ was optional on the MY16s, standard on 17s+. They all have the LKA/LDA/etc.

There is nothing in TIS to support this update, and the wife's production date is December 2015, so it is an early model. Where did you get a "recalibration" done?

Do you mean the zero point calibration for steering and yaw?

Heads up display was standard on 2016.
Starting in 2017, painted wheels were standard, and hand-polished was the option.

Does any one know how much of a difference the adaptive suspension makes? Want to get a gsf and was wondering if the 2017+ was worth it over a 2016.

Difference in what regard? I might buy an F1 car or I might buy an F-150. All depends on what I want to do with it.
