Default 2016 GSF AC Issue

AC stopped blowing through front vents today. I can hear the air blowing but air comes out only through through rear back vents and windshield vents. Had to use the defrost mode to blow cold air so I could drive home without dying. Anyone had this issue before? Did some research and some people said AC servo?

HVAC servos are a known issue on all 4GS models, and there are both parts and a software update to address this. L-SB-0001-21 covers this problem for 2016 and 2017 GS F models.

Sounds like I have to get it fixed at the dealership?

It doesn't have to be a dealer, but it seems pretty clear you have a failed solenoid. If the LSB has never been done, the software update would also be important to apply. Anyone with a legitimate Techstream can do this.

I had it done too recently but wasn’t charged for the procedure. They went as far as saying if servos need replacement they would contact Lexus for a goodwill repair request, I assume that’s bc I have low miles on the gsf and am a loyal Lexus customer.

servo replacement is a big job entire dash has to come out could be north of $4k. Hope the recalibration works

At that price, it's unlikely they did anything other than apply the software update and recalibrate/regrease with the app in Techstream. I hope the fix is solid. The LSB includes servo replacement if necessary (it's 77 pages!). This also pops up on Techstream every time you run a health check as a software update, but the LSB clearly says, do NOT do this UNLESS there is a problem. Since the wife's car has never had a problem, I've left it alone.

There are three groups of servos. Group A and B can be addressed with the HVAC unit in the car. Group C cannot, and the HVAC unit has to be removed from the car according to the LSB. This means removing the dashboard, and the dashboard support bar along with draining the coolant and depressurizing the A/C, then disconnecting the unit from the the engine bay side. This is not a small task. I had to do this on my Supra to replace the disintegrating internal foam seals, and it wasn't fun at all. Getting the HVAC unit in place after the fix can be challenging if you don't have a helper, AMHIK.

As I said - I hope your fix is solid!

Yes $4k is a very low number too, could be upwards of $6k. Not trying to scare you but it’s a really labor intensive repair..that’s why the price.

I can vouch for those high numbers. My 2016 GS350 passenger side stopped blowing cold this week and Lexus replaced maybe 4 or 5 of the servos. Luckily I have an extended warranty that covered it because it was around $3,200 repair cost. Tech told me exactly what you said…labor intensive.

I had this issue and they replaced all 8 servos free. They said it was a service recall bulletin, not a warranty based issue.
The more I read stories coming out of the US, the more I am convinced that Lexus is going cheap on NA with so many things. You guys are being ripped off big time.
