Default Candian vs US 4GS

Hi Everyone,

I'm going to buy a 4GS on Saturday. Based on the carfax it was originally a Canada car that was imported not too long ago. I was able to figure out that a few key differences for the Canadian version will be Climate Control in Celsius, always on DRLs, and KPH speedometer. Can anyone tell me if changing the measurement unit in the gauge cluster to MPH will also change it in the Heads-up Display? I think it will be a deal breaker for me if the spedo is KPH and the HUD is always on KPH. For those that have HUD, can you tell me what you see when swapping between the units.

If you know any other things to look out for in the Canadian 4GS, please chime in.

Thank you!

I believe the BRAKE light in the dash is replaced with the symbol (!). The speedometer has MPH, it's just reversed from the US version... mph primary kph secondary to kph primary mph secondary. I also think engine block heaters are required in some(all??) Provinces. That brake light switch sounds kinda trivial, but I think it prevents it from being street legal in both countries if it's wrong.

Thank you that is good to know. I'm hoping someone who has HUD can test if the HUD display changes from mph to kph when changing the measurements in the gauge.

In mine, yes, the HUD does change between kph and mph as you change it on the dash settings. Did my best at pictures but they're kind of worthless as it's next to impossible to take a good pic of the HUD where it doesn't appear tiny and blurry.

Maybe someone else can verify, but I would want to ensure warranty and TSBs are still covered.

My car is out of warranty and will come with aftermarket power train warranty. If anyone has any experience with TSBs I'll be happy to hear it.

I believe TSBs only come in to play when you are under warranty, so if you're out of warranty, TSBs won't matter.

Canadian spec come with way more equipment than US GS. There is a thread you may wont to look at in the GS F forum where someone bought one and took to US. There was something about all Warranty was Void and No TSB valid they were advised in the US.

There was a '14 LUX I found that was a Canadian import up in WI that was for sale months ago.

It also had a "Custom" setting for the AVS. Literally printed on the center console for the AVS control ****.

That one may have other fun features.

Interesting that a 14 had the custom setting for AVS. I have it on mine, but only because it’s a 16+. Cool that the Canadian ones offered it earlier.
