Default Software update?

I noticed there is a software update available for my vehicle. Anyone know of negatives in this?

I decided to check for updates myself after reading this using my VIN. Update available: Version V15A8872. Under the download link it says, The update released on Aug 17, 2015. This is odd since the Navigation version listed on the Software Update screen in the car says V15A8940 which under logical version numbering would be a more recent version. Based on the date and the version numbers, the "Update" appears to be a rollback which I don't think is the intention. I'm curious why an older version is shown on the Lexus Software Download Portal? The car is a 2015.

I got the same result as JUTMSS32. Latest update released on Aug 17, 2015...Lexus really doesn't want to update these cars.

Nope, they want you to buy a new car. Toyota has yet to try and monetize software opportunities on cars. I don't understand it. It always reminds me of the IBM/Mircosoft meeting in the 70's where IBM let Microsoft keep the software licenses.

As previously discussed on this site, there is a 2019 map update available that can be downloaded to USB drive and installed in theGS350.

Well I recently downloaded and installed the update with 2019 date. Works perfectly. No issues.

I'm just curious, why even bother with this, Nav in cars is so 2000ish, clunky, and not very good compared to what's on your phone. What am I missing, besides integration to the speakers, it's not like you're taking this car off road out of cell service.

So this actually worked for you? You had no issues installing it? What Gen are you using?

2013 GS350. It is a fairly easy install. I think my original software was 2011 so upgrade to 2019 for $75 was worth it.

because the portal doesn’t have the latest. Your Lexus leader would.
