Do you need to remove the plastic intake manifold to replace the value?
No, you don't need to remove the intake manifold. The video is from an IS but it's the same engine and layout. You'll need a 19mm wrench to get it loose.
How often do you change your oil, and what is your logic behind changing it preventatively as you do?
Back then when the GS is my daily, every 10k. As I've stated, It's a cheap $10 part that can prevent hundreds of dollars down the road. And only requires a minute of my time.
Just finished up the replacement of mine on a 2014, I think things are slightly different on the newer gs models (not 100% sure though)
My install was super easy, mainly due to using a 19mm crows foot wrench. It’s perfect for the job since you can’t get a socket on there and wrenches would take forever. Also, with a crows foot, you’re able to torque it down. Maybe it’s not 1000% accurate but it’s still works for me. 3/4 inch crows foot also works (19.05 mm)
I did notice that there was a little bit of gray material on the threads of the old Pcv valve. Do I need to use some sort of gasket maker/sealer for this or do I just raw dog it?
30 minutes draggin ***. 15 of it was spent trying to use a ratcheting wrench or just a basic one. Once I got the crows foot one on there, it was game over.
