the silvering is flaking off. I'm looking to put a point in the favor bank via giving him a replacement. I miss out on the point if I simply offer suggestions.
This is a common problem, so if you do find a used replacement it may not last long. Tell him you have a better solution, you have a guy who can custom install a special a longer lasting mirror, that still retains the dimming. Remove the mirror, take it, and send it off yourself.

I agree this a better way to solve his problem. I don't think you're getting the concept of "the favor" however. If I offer to take his mirror and repair it, that's an inconvenience, not a +1 in the favor bank. The ideal would be for me to show up with an improved mirror and mention as an aside the repair. He could swap and send out the old one on his own. This would make him feel satisfied in making his own repair and also give him a favorable view of me. I will remain the guy who has a skill superior to his in cars while he will be the guy with superior skills in medicine over me.
So anyway, back to the original question, are there other models with the same mirror?
When you do a favor for someone in hopes of getting benefit back, you usually get disappointed. Do something for that person because you care for them, and not expect anything in return.

It seems like your doctor has over estimated your skills as a car guy who frequents local yards. For your sake, I hope his skills in medicine are superior to yours in cars. Hope this helps; its a site called eBay where you can order things from: Ebay GS350 rearview mirror
thanks for answering my original question. I guess asking a specific question in a model specific forum is a challenge for comprehension skills and and insult bait.
Especially if you put in unnecessary anecdotes and take your own thread on a random tangent. You can also try www.car-part.com. It is a database of cars/car parts in all junkyards in the nation, it shows compatible models. They will send you pics, an invoice, and ship the part to you.
This particular Lexus rear view mirror has dual glass with auto-dimming gas inside.
And over time, nearly all mirrors will leak gas and it'll show up as scratched up mirror.
Once the scratch looking marks appear on the mirror, it'll continuously get worse and worse
to a point where it becomes to dangerous to use the mirror reliably since it'll be hard to see anything reflecting on it.
I had this problem and got it replaced at the shop mentioned by ibidu1.
Therefore, I wouldn't get a used one that looks OK now, because likely it's going to go bad.
I had mine replaced about 3 years ago, and so far I'm not seeing even a speckle of a spot yet.
That said, some people have left message on this video saying that, they've not gotten their mirror back after couple of months.
The only bad thing about this place is, they don't reply to any inquiries. Although they do a very good job at repair.
I think the delay is due to current supply-chain issues. Even Lexus and Toyota is backed up on getting necessary parts.
