Default Rear View Mirror: Thinking Outside the Box

So the rear view mirror on my '06 IS350 is crazed really bad as are all '06/'07's. I soon came to find out that a new one is ~$900 from the dealer or I can have the privilege of buying a used one on ebat for ~$300. I'm not too happy about either option so I thought of getting some mirror glass cut and sticking it to the existing mirror but was not too hot on that idea. Then I thought of finding another brand of mirror and adapting it. Sure enough there are plenty of homelink mirrors for ALOT cheaper. I don't really care about the compass or autodimming since I have tint. So the question is, is there anything special about how the IS mirror mounts? And if so are there any other mirrors that shre the same mounting method? Even if I need to get a "normal" mounted one, it shouldn't be too hard to mount a regular homelink mirror to the windshield and splicing power to it.

Input welcome.

What does "crazed" mean in this case? I've got a '06 and besides the mirror moving around with the moonroof open or the audio way up it's perfect.

Seems to happen to all IS mirrors eventually. Lexus really should address the issue.

Thanks Lou. Looks like I can get a used home link compass gentex for like $40 or ~$200 new. It's hilarious that the gentex is the replacement for the original mirror with the shaking problem and lexus is charging an arm and a leg for it.
