Default Reversing camera options?

I was looking into possible reversing camera options to replace my 16 year old unit on my GS430, as it is grainy AF especially at night.

I came across the following one on ebay:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194019988...53.m1438.l2649

I've never heard of Dorman, are they some sort of OE equivalent in the US?

Has anyone replaced their rear camera with this one?

I wanted a genuine Lexus replacement, until I saw the cost of over £400 and decided to either choose a used one and hope it's better than my 'grainy' one or buy a Dorman one.

All suggestions and experiences with rear camera replacements are welcome!

Dorman is not oe! I think maybe you are confusing Denso as that is a parts supplier to toyota/lexus.

Why not buy a used camera off ebay? Remove yours look up the part number on ebay, and buy from the latest year vehicle. Pretty sure used they are very cheap as these cameras do not go bad often. Also have you tried cleaning the lens on your camera, maybe you have some grime stuck on the lens.

Just to clarify, I asked if it was an OE equivalent. I'm aware that it is not OE! Denso is a different company altogether, don't worry I know that.

I've considered buying a used one, but I worry that most of the cars will be of a similar age and it may have the same issue. I have seen some 2009 ones which may be a bit newer and not suffer the same issue. I have checked the lens, but it's a quality of image degradation issue rather than a dirty lens. It's significantly worse at night than in the day. To the point, it's almost useless at night in some scenarios!

Did you make sure your reverse tail lights are both working, aswell as the license plate light? The reverse lights should be bright!

I have never heard of one going bad, but anything is possible as these cars are aging. I would def stick to oem and find a used but newer

The lights actually make the picture worse. I've actually read of a few people with the issue, but in fairness I was searching for it.

I've ordered both a used one and a Dorman one and whichever is clearest, wins the spot of living on my ride haha

I used have VW Jetta. Dorman makes many OEM parts for especially German cars.

My 2006 GS300 backup camera was very fuzzy to a point, it was useless.
so I bought a used one for $36 on eBay, and while it's not HD like modern cameras,
it's at least viewable without fuzziness.

After I installed, this I saw dashcams that come with both front and rear cameras,
and decent size screen. That was 2 years ago, so I'm sure technology is better and
could be cheaper. Try searching in YouTube for review.

Are there any options for aftermarket cameras with the static lines that move with your steering wheel? As I’m no longer as young as I used to be I find those static lines extremely helpful when parking.

The parking lines have nothing to do with the camera.
You'll need to replace your head unit or the software on it to get the parking lines
