Default VSC warning light on

I have a 2008 GS 350 with 173K miles.
Excellent car kept in mint condition.
VSC warning light just came on.
Interested in comments - experience with this and what is the normal fix?
Thanks.

It's most likely either a misfire, catalyst code or transmission solenoid code. Is check engine on as well? Mine throws a po420 code every once and a whe and check vac comes on , clear the code and it's fine. Could possibly be a bad catalyst or trans solenoid if it persists.

Won't know for sure until you scan it.

You can get cheap OBD Bluetooth scanners that pair with an app on your phone. Check Amazon.

I get a p0420 (or p0430, can't remember) every few weeks and just clear it (only because I know it a nothing major).

buy a obd 2 scanner either from amazon or oreilly etc. Plug it into the ob2 port under the steering wheel. The device will display what codes are found then give an option to clear the codes. Actual steps depend on the scanner purchased

Took it to Lexus dealer for evaluation. As adrock265 predicted (thanks for your reply) it’s the catalyst converter issue that was causing the VSC light (in addition to the warning light) to come on. Re-coded so light now off - high chance it will come back on at some point - based on the high cost to fix it I will sit tight and hope the warning light stays off - 2 days before I took it to dealership the warning light actually turned off by itself.

I purchased a scanner from Amazon and it cleared the VSC, Check Engine lights but they return once to restart the engine. I guess I’m stuck with them for now until I’m ready to spend some cash on Intake Manifold maintenance.

adrock265 & hvargas - thanks for your comments.
Propulsion - Lexus dealership wants $2,200 to fix this issue (intake manifold)
How much $$ was the scanner from Amazon?

$2,200 is absolutely insane. Don’t use the stealerships.
The OBD2 scanner was $31 bucks on Amazon. It gave me two codes.

P2004 - Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck
P2009 - Intake Manifold Runner Control Circuit Low

the car rides wonderfully but this check engine light and VSC light is annoying. Based on the online searches I’m figuring this job to cost around $300-$450 by an independent tech. I’m getting estimates in the coming days. I don’t mind the small cost to keep my baby running smoothly. She’s nearing 200k miles and I want at least 20k-30k more before I retire her for a new ride

Just for further clarity I had my GS fully tuned last January 2019. Got the carbon buildup cleared, had the seaform treatment along with new spark plugs and fuel system flush. Months later the control arm of the manifold is stuck in the open position causing the check engine and VSC lights. I attribute it to the techs during their first service of my car. I’m taking it back to them to gauge their response and see what can be worked out. The warranty on the service is expired of course so this will be an opportunity for them to meet me half way or be savaged on Yelp

You own a 10 year old car, it's gonna happen. there's nothing worse than someone who can't fix it themselves dragging someone on Yelp be a man lol

I am having an identical problem, I did a throttle body cleaning, brake fluid flush, and spark plug replacement. Immediately after, I got codes p2004 and p2009. The p2009 code doesnt erase and the p2004 returns the next time i start the car. What was the solution to your problem? I have been scratching my head for weeks and I have not found any answers. The procedure didn't even get close to the lower intake manifold so I don't want to go down that rabbit hole if I don't need to. Car drives fine, hadn't had any issues until I did the mentioned maintenance. Get back to me when you get a chance, I am looking forward to your response, thanks.

Maybe you just left something unplugged, or a vacuum hose came undone. Make sure the lines on the throttle body are all intact, plugged in and not cut or pierced. Retrace your work area and the surrounding area make sure its all nice and tight. Start the car rev the engine and listen for a whistles that loose hoses can cause.

Thanks for the response, I triple checked the wires were connected securely, but I haven't tried listening for vacuum leaks. I was thinking about cleaning the connectors I undid with electric component cleaner, I believe some of those wires would be causing the lower intake manifold to not be getting power. I will also track the wires as best as I can for rips or tears. I did not remove the throttle body, only wiped it while it was attached, I wasn't having any high idle problems, but I thought it would be a beneficial maintenance item at 150k. A combination of p2004 and p2009 indicates to me that it is not stuck, it just doesn't have any power. The day I had the repairs done, the battery died so I jump started the car, but only after everything was buttoned up did I jump the car. The next day I even replaced the battery as it was on it's way out, but not to the point of not starting after sitting overnight in 25-30 degree weather.
