Default Problems with security system

Hi,

I'm new here and not sure where I'm supposed to post problems, so if this is in the wrong place, please let me know! I have a 2006 GS300 Lexus. My headlights started intermittently going out and then coming back on. At the same time, my security light is on solid all the time instead of flashing, I can't use the auto door locks, roll down the windows, use the memory seats or memory steering wheel. When I get out of the car, my fob won't lock or unlock the car and if I try to get back in the car, the alarm goes off and can't be shut off with the fob, I have to actually start the car to get it turn off! I'm not sure if this is all related or not? I am at a loss, I hope someone can help!

Thanks!

The battery and key fob battery would be my first check. How old is your car's battery? When was the last time you changed the battery in the key fob?

We just bought the car about a month ago, so not sure how old the battery is. My husband is going to ck my fob battery and see if that helps! Thanks!

Are you getting any check engine lights?

After you replace the key fob battery, drive the car to any Advance or Autozone parts store and ask them to test the battery and charging system. They can check it without removing the battery from the car and they will do it for free. Then you will know if it's the battery or something else that is causing your problems.

No, nothing else is happening. My son even ran the code checker on it and nothing came up.

Sounds like a weak battery or a weak alternator, I would drive down the autozone or who ever does basic tests and have them test both. Many places they check them for free

I took my car to O'Reilleys, they said the battery was great, but the regulator in the alternator is bad. My son is going to change it tomorrow for me, so I hope this is what the problem is! Thanks for all your help!

My son changed the alternator. We took it back to Auto Zone and they checked it and said it was 14 volts and the battery was 14 volts. When we got back home, the car is doing the same thing. Something is not right with the security system?

Take it to the dealer and pay for an hours worth of diagnosis, better then chasing the issue with parts.

Agreed. At this point you have probably done all you can do on your own without taking guesses and wasting money on unneeded parts.

I googled security light staying on found a thread on here people saying it was the door actuator. Windows, door locks, fob not working, it's probably a body module fault. You should scan the body modules with techstream. Could be a wiring issue somewhere idk
