Are all 3rd gen seats the same? I bought a new GS but the front seats are in horrible shape with a lot of cracking, do you guys recommend replacing them or do those touch ups repairs?

 

All 3rd gen are the same. I recommend staying away from repair kits they usually end up looking terrible unless it's professionally done

 

I think in 2008/09 the plastic piece thats 3/4 way up the seat back went from the color of the leather to painted, but thats it,

 

They're the same except for the plastic piece noted by 02SDGS, and that seats with ventilation have perforated leather and those without the vented seats my not have perforated leather (I've never sat in one without ventilated seats so I can't say for sure). Either way, that's a tough break bro. I just looked up the price of new front seat upholstery – don't look it up unless you have a defibrillator handy. Probably the least expensive option would be to get upholstery from a GS that's been totaled, try looking on car-part.com

There's a whole set of black seats on eBay for 490$ that looks to be in good condition, not sure what color you need but typically periodically browsing eBay you'll find them.

 

A fellow member turned me on to ROW52 for used car parts...it is a great tool. Good-luck in your search...

 

In addition to ebay as mentioned above, try www.car-part.com. If you check periodically, you will find a local GS in your area with some decent seats and avoid the shipping fees. Good luck with your search
