Default Water inside headlight, what can I do?

<br >

After my last car wash this happened and it's been like this a few days now :/ any idea on how to get rid of it. I can't really afford to drop $1000 on a new headlight. I've heard of the baking method but not sure I would trust myself to do that. Anyone know any tricks?

You can use a heatgun instead of the baking method.

Pop open the light from the cap and remove the bulb, then you can use a hair dryer. Dry the face and then inside the light. You might want to examine the cause of the condensation. You have a hole or leak somewhere in the headlight.

Get some Silica Gel Dehumidifier Desiccant packs. Proper way would be to heat and then reseal housing

Best way, besides replacing, is to just open up and reseal it. Be careful with the hairdryer method, as it can push in a lot of dust and junk into the housing. I had to deal with the same thing as you last year, but ended up finding out my car was in a fender-bender before the dealership sold it to me (Carfax took over a year to report the accident), so I nagged them until they agreed to replace it. Did the hairdryer method, I even covered the opening with some nylon, but dust particles still entered and covered the projector lens. Good luck.

My car was actually hit and run in my works parking lot a couple months ago in the fender right by the headlight, they said the headlight wasn't damaged but this makes me wonder. Not sure if there's much I could do now though as I already had the fender fixed and said they did a satisfactory job. Wonder if you could just get some kind of silicone and go around the seal rather than pulling it apart ?

Depending on who said the headlight wasn't damaged, you might be able to go back and pull the "it started shortly after" line, and see if they'd be willing to work with you. You could definitely try the silicone trick, but as long as it's out, you might as well go all the way and pull it apart, wipe the inside down, then re-seal.

You can do clear silicone. But if your car was in an accident then you may have a hairline crack somewhere in the housing. If its on the housing jb weld is good for the plastic. Or maybe the repair shop left something loose or open. Examine the light and you should know

Do I need to do anything special taking the light out, like wear gloves to remove the bulbs? I've heard hid bulbs cant get touched by bare hands. I just don't wanna mess up the AFS feature or ruin my bulb. Should I disconnect the battery first or is that not neccasary?

I have this EXACT problem, hit and run bumper corner, then i end up having water and condensation in my headlight. I ignored it for awhile and end up the water and salt killed my ballast. (where i live they put salt on road in winter)

You have to at least pull the bumper off and check for cracks, my headlight looks fine until i pull my bumper off. Most likely there is a long crack along the top of the headlight because when the other car hit your bumper, they most likely will push the headlight in and cracking the plastic mount.

Do it quick, the ballast sits at the bottom of the light and it is NOT WATER PROOF. Mine slowly died because the water collects at the bottom.

I replaced the ballast, sealed the crack with silicone, then opened the covers to let the moisture/water out, everything worked fine now.

You don't have to remove the bulb at all, unless your lights are not working?

I did not disconnect battery, just turn off your headlights should be fine.

if you don't touch anything in the headlight, AFS and aiming should not change, just take off the entire headlight off the car, check cracking, seal it, then open up cover to hair-dryer it out.

Remember to check aiming when you put it back on, mines somehow moved a little since i have to replace my ballast.
