Default Transmission issue; Possibly?

Hi All,

My 07 GS 350 AWD is running fine but i just recently felt this issue the other day. My car has 190,xxx miles ( i know its alot, due to commuting back and forth for work) I keep up with the maintenance such as 3k oil changes, changed air filter every 12k, changed spark plugs 20k ago, and is still running strong. BUT i haven't done anything with my transmission as of yet E.G transmission flush and fill.. All gears go in smooth, gears shift good, but I'm not sure when the first owner did a tranny flush or if ever did.

Dilemma:
I was on the high way coming off a on ramp and wanting to merge into the lane and I punched on the gas and it didn't go no where; as in it didn't down shift and go. Good way to explain it, is it felt like fuel cut in a boosted car . I then just half throttled it and it went fine. I was so boggled, so i tried to punched down on the gas again on the highway and it went fine.

Has this ever happen to any of you? I was planning on bringing it to Lexus to do the flush and fill before, but now i think its time.. Do y'all think this is a transmission issue? Any input will be very helpful or any solution to this. Thanks!

Similar feel. Doing my tranny flush and fill as well as differential soon. Let you know if that helps.

Could be bad batch of gas? How often has it happened since then?

That can also be it, but i usually get gas at the same gas station all the time. Im not sure if it happens often because i granny pedal the car most of the time.

I truly believe you caught the car off guard. It wasn't ready for you when you punched it. I've had the same thing happen to a couple of my cars on rare occasions.

But get the fluid level checked and do the 3qt flush and fill.

Another possibility could be the TPS was acting up. Doubtful with what you're reporting though . I personally wouldn't do the full tranny flush, just a drain and fill would be best; however, others swear by the flush. Hope you get it all figured out!

The car is getting old, but i do always feel like this car is a bit hesitant to change gears at times especially when you try to run yellows :P takes about 2-3 seconds before u dump it like 1/4 or 1/2 way. The only problem i have is jerkiness...

I noticed if you baby the throttle, it will take the trans a bit longer to kick down. I think i remember hearing somewhere that keeping it in ECT mode will have more aggressive downshifts and help with the take off.

As others have mentioned, do a drain and fill. I went the flush route and haven't had any issues in the past 10k (knock on wood). Before and after was a night and day difference atleast for me. Flushed the fluid ~110k.

Does the car jerks or has a downshift jerk when coming to a stop?

That's why 99% I drive it on sport mode, feels like a manual and have every control of it. Seldomly on Auto itself cause I know it lags/bogs so I rather not. Although to eliminate the thought of guessing whether or not the first owner did a tranny flushed, just serviced it for trans flush 10k miles back. Prior before that it felt a lil funky as far as itself switching gears like punching it to pass or beating a yellow light.
