Wanted to start off by saying hello. New to these forums but have referenced them for a while. May have met some of the SELOC guys (seems their site is down now) back in '05ish, was part of 3SI.org and think we met up at a couple different meets.
Replaced alternator in my 07 GS350, started 2 nights ago (not much time between end of work and sleep.) First night, realized I didn't have the right tool to reach the POS nut behind the alternator, so I threw the battery back in to put it in neutral and push her in garage.
2nd night, everything went easy with the right tools (no kidding?), except I am the smart guy who forgot to take the battery back out. Anyways, 10mm to the positive on the alternator and spark...
Put everything back together with new alternator. Key doesn't work, stiff brake, no green (or red) light on the push start, blinkers don't work (although hazards do), tail lights, and I am sure there is some more in there that I didn't notice.
The fusible link is def blown, as I can see right through the clear top that the first fuse (closest to + on battery) is blown. I guess my main question is, are other fuses blown or should replacing this fix the issue? I have seen a couple other posts that had some issues, or one of the issues I have had, but they didn't go into much detail on all of the symptoms.
Sorry for long post, and thanks, in advance, for any advice.
For the sake of this happening to anybody else, yes, it was in fact the fusible link, fuse block, whatever you would like to call it. Car is running like a dream again. I feel like I have learned the disconnect the battery lesson before, so I will chalk this up as the "slow down and double check everything" lesson.
For future reference OP and future members looking. Your shifter panel has a little block that you can open with a flathead screwdriver. Flick it off with the screwdriver and jam your key down with foot on brakes and shift to neutral. No need to reconnect battery to do that.
