Default 2006 GS430...How much should I pay?

Hi, I am new to this forum, I also hang out on the Benz forum as I have an E430 as well, So my question is that, I am looking to buy a 2006 GS430 fully loaded, owned by a mechanic friend of mine, the car has 155K miles and it has FULL maintenance history on it from new till 150k! Everything done at the dealership, price new was $58334. Now the only problem is that, it has a Salvage title because it was rear ended, but now it is 100% fixed up by professionals so can't even tell that it was rear ended, he is asking $9500 for it...What should I pay? I am thinking $8k right now. Should that be close?

im not sure, doesnt sound like a bad price to me but there are others here that could shed more light on that. However, before you buy you better check with your insurance company first, some companies wont insure a vehicle with a salvage title, and some will only allow liability insurance. Just something to consider.

I do rice my 430 at 16k 102k . Full maintenance from Lexus. Documented on their site. Except timing belt job. Near perfect car.

So that sounds like a good deal. Miles don't mean much. Maintenance is what matters.

Same here, I logged in to the Lexus driver website and this car has 5 full pages of service history and EVERYTHING was done at the dealer on time! So I am fully convinced, now the question is that it is going to be my dad's car and he drives a lot, so if we continue to maintain it, how long should it last? 7 or 8 years more?
We had another Salvage car before which was rear ended and it was covered by insurance with no problem, now we just need to negotiate on the price with him, hopefully we get it, within a month! Will keep you guys updated.

sounds good … salvage title doesn't mean anything as long as you don't plan on selling it..cause it won't be worth anything

I would still get a reputable 3rd party to inspect everything. 10k on a salvage title car is a lot...especially on a 9yr old car. I wouldn't do it but hey...to each their own...

$9k on a 150k miles thats 10yrs old and salvage?

i wouldnt do it and i had salvage cars before but those were like $3k max... spending nearly 10k on a salvage with high miles just seems insane to me

Sounds a bit too much for a Salvage car. I would say b/n $6,500-8,000 is about right. How long ago was it in accident?

The car if not salvage worth b/n $10,000-13,000, so $8,000 would be fair for clean salvage

Are these cars normally reliable? and it is not a 10 year old car or even 9, it went to service in 2007...I consider anything 2001-newer is new/modern, the GS were the same till 2011 so age or mileage are not my problem, it is maintained obviously, but I will try my best to get it for under 9k...It was in an accident in around 2012.

An 06 that didn't go into service until 07? Not bad....but these cars are fairly reliable. Some people have electrical issues (nav screens, brake actuators, transmission solenoid issues, etc...) but I just couldn't put 10k in a salvage car plus the fact that is got 150k on the odo. Plus...is it fully loaded? Do you know how bad the car was damaged? I think you can do better but if this is what you really want then best of luck to you!

Yea man. Gotta agree with gotcha350... Even if the body/chassis is fixed to a near factory spec, Its not my thing to drop a down payment on a salvaged car. Keep looking imo, lotsa GS out there to chase after.

Let me post that car's window sticker! Plus, in the service records, it shows "Loaner car", or "1 scratch noted." Why? Was this thing used as a loaner car?

And yes, we are definitely not going to spend out 10k on it, he came down to 9500, but our offer is going to be, $7500 cash plus I have a Mits Montero which is worth $2500-$3k so $7500 cash plus the car so he can sell it and keep whatever he earned on it...Sounds good?

And want to buy this car not because I am particularly looking for a GS, I just want it because he has it, and Id think I can find one fully loaded like this one with so many service records for cheap, and I don't want to sell it so the salvage doesn't really matter, check out the window sticker I have attached and tell me what you guys think...

With trade worth about $2k, i would offer him $6000. Or just $7800 and no trade.
Looks like yeah it was a loaner. I wouldnt sweat it thought, they dont keep loaners for long, maybe a yeah at most 2. The gs is very reliable, and this one is fully loaded. $8k is a fair price
