Not carfax but autocheck, yes 1 owner! Id have money to spend on carfax on a car that I am not even 100% on yet. I offered him $8k cash and he rejected it in no time, and he just kept telling my dad, "That thing looks so nice, and Imagine how much nice it would look in front of your house." But the next time I should tell him that, Hey, I am not buying this car for the looks, I am buying it to drive it!

Btw, is it fast? What's the best it can do in 0-60?

5.6 to 5.7...quarter mile 14.2 avg

Sounds like you are 100% sure you want it. I still haven't heard that you have had the car, including the frame inspected before even making an offer. We are just trying to tell you to be careful in what you are getting. Don't let the look of one particular car cloud sound reasoning. These cars are not cheap to fix especially if you don't have a warranty.

Damn that's faster than my E430 Sport! It does it in 6.1-6.2, I must notice the difference when I drive it! But I heard you can't turn off the ESP and traction in it! If I ever drive it hard, I would want to turn it off a 100%...

You can turn it off....hold down the tcs button for like 3 seconds...but the car has to be in park...then you can have some fun but if you get too crazy then it will still save you from completely losing it...but I would be too hard on a car with 150k...with it being a loaner car I sure it saw plenty of hard day in it youngest days...lol

Do you know if the transmission has been serviced?

This forum is just too cool! So many informed owners/drivers...you guys almost make it a bit easier for someone to make the decision to buy one, bc all one has to do is post something on CL and chances are, you'll read a remedy posted by someone for/about your issue.
Im in a similar situation regarding a 430 with a salvage, but its out of state and has a rebuilt title, but I also have a few other things im looking at as well. However, before I do anything, I will pay to have an independent inspector check it out, but in all honesty it still makes me a bit weary...
But anyways man, my little 2 cents, between 7-8k, n more. Even though its a Lexus, 155 is a lot. As far as how long it will go..im not sure about the numerous other aspects of the car, but I am constantly told that the engine is BULLETPROOF!
Good luck!

Lol I know, it may have seen its hard days, but it is super maintained too so it must still act young... My uncle just got a LS460 certified ore owned and he dropped it at the dealer to get it polished and he got a IS250 as a loaner and gave it to me go for a small drive and yes, I floored it lol

I always want to be safe. It has a rebuilt title too.

Hell i'd floor it too!!
Then yea, you should be fine in regards to insurance (rebuild) and everything else. Being he's a friend he should take care of you guys after the purchase. Sounds like he's just trying to see how bad you want it and see if you can come up with as much money as possible. But have your number in mind and hold your ground...he'll give in or on to the next for you...

Haha I floored it and it only had 6k miles on it lol, wasn't all that impressed, if it was the 350, that thing must have been QUICK! Anyways, we also bought the E430 I have from him and yes when the CEL came on in it(loose gas cap), I told him and he told me to not pay the last $500 which were left so yes, he is nice and yes, he is testing how bad bad we want it, I want it bad but dad's gonna pay for it, so he has to be really safe and he will try his best to get it at a good price too. Hell when he visited our restaurant a couple days back(in the GS, he was like, "I came in your car" so yes, he has kept it for us lol and is waiting for us to throw a number so we can head further on it. Now just wait and pray for us that we end up getting it soon!

Small update: So my dad talked to his mechanic friend and he somewhat agreed at $8500, and said that lets meet up soon, but now my dad is having second thoughts about it and I kinda agree with him, $8500 for a salvage car with 159000 miles is too much, that car's blue book is like $11-12k and being a salvage is suppose to be worth half of that price but my dad still says that it is a good car for $7-7.5k, so now we are just waiting for the seller to call or show up so we can discuss further about it.

So is this right whatever we want to do? Is $7500 the right price for it?

I would say even $8k is the right price. Being $7.5 would be a good deal.

Yeah when that guy comes, we want him to be ready to sell and desperate because if he comes with his mind set to sell it , he will agree at even $7800 or $8k, my dad says that the problem is that he drives a lot and he doesn't want this thing to die in like 2-3 years, he worries about its future longevity, I assume that as maintained as the car is, it should have no problems hitting 300k? Atleast 6-7 years more?

He said he hardly even drives the thing other than to take his family out for an ice cream at night or something lol, Btw my uncle got a CPO LS460 2011, which looks better in your opinion, personally I like the GS because it is sportier and sharp looking, the LS looks nice but is more of an old/retired person car...what are your thoughts?

Let me post a couple pics I took for the GS we are planning on...
