Post Needing new brake pads.

I was originally planning on getting new akebono performance pads for both front and rear, but it appears the performance pad is only available on the front for the 3gs.

I was just wondering which combo would my CL friends prefer.
1) akebono performace pads for the front, and akebono proact pads for the rear.
or
2) akebono proact pads for front and rear.

Thanks guys.

Go to Tire Rack and they have listed as " New " the yellow box performance pads for the rear as a special order. Funny that they only have the ProAct for the front. They show as $65 a set plus shipping.

After you run them for a while let us all know what you think of them.

Proacts front and rear would be best for most drivers.

AJ,

For most yes, but depends on how you drive. I replaced Hawk street pads with the PRoAct on my old car GS430 ( now my daughters) and a notable difference, smoother but much less bite. I did that because my daughters experience was only with that setup ( hawks and slotted rotors), when I drove with her she was scaring me because she would come right up on people and "hit the brakes" which would bite nicely; but I figured if she had to drive a regular set up she would rear end someone, so I took them out and explained the difference and she is a better driver now.

PS:
How are the Brembo pads? No reviews are posted, and the only review I could find was on a BMW forum and the guy hated them, but that's one person. These are one of your few options for a GS. let us know.

Feedback has been positive for the most part in regards to stopping power. Some have complained about the dust, however.

I have akebono front pads with these rotors.not sure which pads as i got them installed at a shop and didn't know there were two, but i'd say they are the performance pads as the rotors are also performance. no dust at all.

i still need to do the rear. i'll order from brake parts .com and do the install myself.

I am very interested in the Brembo brake pads as I have tried everything out there and would suggest OEM, but I am always looking for a better option. I found this review on the pads http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=753058
