Default BEWARE- Power Steering Fluid Replacement

I recently took my 2006 GS 430 in for a routine oil change at a SoCal Toyota dealership (name withheld). I have been having my car serviced there ever since my warranty expired. Certainly a lot cheaper than having Lexus do it. This dealership does a free 42 point inspection of fluids, tires, hoses, etc. Their service has been top notch, but when I took my car in this time the service rep came over to me in the lobby and showed me a printout of some things that needed replacement. Two of the items were legit (cabin filter and intake air filter replacement), but a third item, power steering fluid, was listed as dirty/contaminated. They wanted $139.95 to replace the fluid. I stared at the printout and started laughing. The rep, who was a woman, looked puzzled. Since she was only the messenger I decided not to to give her a verbal tongue lashing and didn't say anything.

DON"T let any dealership scam you on this item. We have electronic steering, hence, no power steering fluid and no power steering fluid reservoir.

Lol I was just gonna say I thought we didn't have power steering. Hope that verbal lashing was good

If a dealership ever offered me power steering fluid replacement, I would have said "Sure, go for it". Then, after they presented the $139 bill, I would have had the General Manager explain to me, what exactly have they replaced. And only then I would start laughing.

Exactly! And it would be on the 5 O'clock news.. I don't have any tolerance for that type of fraud.

Most likely the tech was looking at the brake fluid.
