so i got into my car last night and i noticed all the windows were fogged up but i havent been in the car... so i drove home and pulled my backpack outta my back seat floor to find it wet... OH NO here we go again with the a/c evap grommet. same thing happened in my is250... but now i can hear water in the padding under the capert... goes "squish squash" how would i absorb the water? anyone else delt with the evap line being clogged?

 

Could be an evap clogged or the sunroof drain tubes. But if you said the car was sitting I would put my money on the sunroof not draining.

Heres is a way to test it, open the sunroof. Grab a bottle of water and around the sunroof frame should be valley channels for water, and on front corners (driver and pass side) should be a drainage hole. Pour the bottle of water into that channel to see if the drains are draining. If the drains are clogged what you can do is grab a electrical wire, preferably a coaxial cable with the wire inside and snake that down each hole.

1: The best way to remove water under the carpeting is the remove the carpet from the car and let it air dry, if its not molded up.

2: Not as effective as 1 but you can remove the plastic door sills, and lift up the carpet and use a shop vac to suck the water out.

3: Another trick use a shop vac and force the head into the carpet, then put the cars heater turned up and on the floor.

 

The way to test it is not with bottle of water, but with windshield wiper fluid that is blue. That's what lexus told me when I thought I had it clogged up. There is like 6 holes the fluid will come out around side skirt areas.

 

Why would color matter?? lol Ive always used water hose, on other cars with success.

 

Any way to unclog the drain for the AC???

 

was the a/c evap grommet. apparently was the same issue as my is250. the evap drain line is covered by a grommet that just was a bad designed item to begin with. theres a TSB out there to pull it off but dont let the dealers fool you. I look it in to lexus and they told me that i had to pull the dash and drill into the evap and i was skeptical. so i went and looked for the TSB and there it was stating that i just had to pull off the grommet with a long nose pliers.
