Hey CL,
I purchased a GS350 2 days ago, i love everything about it. Sadly, I tried to insert a CD but the CD slot would not open. I pushed the load button, even held it and the cd slot would not open. Each time I push DISC, the screen would say no DVD Disc (forgot what it said, but pretty much stating no dvd disc inside). I'm not sure what's going on and i'm prety upset about that because I'm pretty sure warranty is over on the car. It's a 07 GS with 48,xxx miles. Someone please help with information to fix this problem. Thanks
I had a dissimilar problem last year whereby a CD would randomly eject as I was driving, and the radio would turn on. I took it in, and the dealer ran a scan of the system. The scan revealed a problem, and a new system was ordered. Two weeks ago the same thing happened again. I'll be taking it in in the near future.
You can use your tape deck in the mean time sorry I had to
Was it working prior to leaving the dealer?
I didn't test out the CD player when i test drove the car since I didn't bring any Cd's. It also never crossed my mind about testing the CD player, only tested the radio and nav.
I didn't buy my car from a Lexus dealership, i purchased it at a Audi dealership. It's a used car. Everything else on the car works perfect.
I wouldnt worry about that its only been a few days, I would take it back and have them look it over and document it ASAP with them. The longer you have the car the less likely they will be to fix it and assume you broke something. Hopefully its an easy fix or something minor. Only thing I could think of is pull the fuse to the radio or even maybe disconnect your batter for ~ 45 min and let everything reset and see what that does. If you do disconnect the battery you will need to program your windows and your moonroof that is easy to do just a PIA.
Actually you can buy a cassette for about $10. which will connect to your ipod and play via the tape deck. The only significant downside is you can't charge the ipod via the cassette.
You can always buy and install the Vaistech integration onto the car you'll be able to connect iPods, Hard drive, USB. Just a thought 👍
Hmm that's actually tempting and I was thinking about that. If I were to purchase the vaistech integration, i can control everything through the LCD screen right? as if it were OEM. Also, I'm assuming the DISC button, isn't working since no light flashes... would that button be needed to use the vaistech?
There are different models for the Vaistech. But if you are going to get it, the ML+ is the only way to go in my opinion. ML+ is the only model with the "iPod Out Feature". With ML+ you can control everything on the iPod/iPhone with the LCD touch screen, and the interface is very nice, it looks OEM. It's also one of the only models to get the best sound quality (equal to CD).
Vaistech just creates a bridge in the connection to the head unit. I don't have the system myself YET but I'm pretty sure you just select DISC and it will connect to CD 1 but it's actually the Vaistech unit, so I don't think a broken CD slot would matter, it's getting it's signal from Vaistech and not the CD slot (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Watch these two videos, they will show you pretty much everything.
(this video is not Vaistech, but it's pretty much the same steps to install vaistech, you will be able to see how the connect is made from the head unit to the iPod).
