so DRL and high beam are the same bulbs? and installing an LED renders the high beam inactive?

Correct, DRL/High Beam is same bulb (just at different voltage) and LED replacement will inactivate your high beams (not recommended). I personally just had my DRLs turned off at dealer (no charge from dealer).

"Parking lights" are in that same housing but in the top corner vs dead center for DRL/High Beam light. They go on when low beam headlights are activated.

good stuff, can I change my parking lights to LEDs and if so which part# is the best replacement? or should i just go with a sylvania replacement? don't really care for the dim orange look of the parking lights that come stock. also want brighter foglight bulbs

Parking light replacement bulb size is 2825. If you replace it with a sylvania and stick with halogen you won't get much of a difference in color. It's a very simple LED replacement.

 

What did you want to replace? Headlights are pretty simple swap out for any color since they are already HID. I switched my fog's to LEDs to match my headlights, although they are pretty useless emitting any visable light. For that you would have to get an HID conversion kit.

For the center housing parking light = easy swap, but the DRLs your stuck with unless you don't mind disabling your high beams.
