Default headlight flickers off

my driver side headlight will intermittently flicker off and I have to turn off the headlights and turn them back on for them to work. I can see the driver headlight flickering sometimes and a couple min later itll turn off. Im debating whether its the ballast or the bulb. Has anyone experienced this with their gs or have some insightful input on which one it may be? I was going to buy 6k bulbs to replace them with but if its the ballast, I am hoping lexus will cover it under warranty before I replace the bulbs.

I am exactly experiencing same problem, however mine flickers in passenger side and I asked tech then he said it might be problem in module(?) or just a ground work. The best thing to do is to take your car to the dealership and set up an appointment only if your car mileage is under 50k ( No warranty after 50k) mine is at 46,000 fortunately otherwise you would have to pay all (such a bull**** price over $1,000). I have a appointment next Monday over at kearny mesa lexus dealer. I would tell you more detail after they fix its problem.

I am leaning toward it being the ballast as well. I guess im going to park the gs in the garage til monday when I can set up an appointment to get it fixed. Hopefully they will cover it under warranty since my car doesn't have 50k miles yet.

easy test is to switch the bulbs. I had this problem and it was the bulb.

I'm having this problem too and hope it's nothing too serious?

Has anyone tried switching bulbs suggested by worker?

So Today I took my car to dealership to fix its problem and they fixed here is the quote, "Customer states the passenger side headlight slowly dies and he has to turn them off and back on the make it bright again. Replaced passenger side HID bulb" This was under the warranty they did it for free.

skyyos, i think they should replace both cause it means the other one is also about to go. But I guess they wouldn't care. let us know too when the other side bulb die. I'm curious roughly how far apart they die.

Thanks for this. My left light just started acting up like this, and I ordered a pair of D2R's from WalMart. Hoping it's only the bulb, and nothing more. My car was purchased new in November 2000 (first week in the U.S.) and it has only 102K. (StopTechs on the front axle, Koni adjustables on all corners, Tom's chassis braces, sway bars, etc, strut braces on both ends of the car.) Ralph L Seifer, Long Beach, California
