I got a 2007 GS350 AWD with 50k miles last week and I haven't had any issue with the dreaded rattles yet. *crosses fingers*

Mostly because it's May. When the temps go to under 30 degrees, they'll be there. Our Florida and Southern California people don't usually have the rattle problem.

So my 2007 GS350 is now in for the 15K checkup. (Bought her new and have driven her softly.)

I had it in about 2 years ago for the styrofoam on styrofoam squeak under the dash - with other things. That was fixed.

During this visit I mentioned the rattle in the dash - specifically front right center - nav/glove box area. They mentioned a TSB for this and I will receive it Monday afternoon.

Of course winter is the test drive.

I love the car but between this and the squealing brakes from hell (after the dusty TSB) not sure Lexus is on my next car radar. Rightfully or wrongfully my expectations were higher.

The only good part about this is that (most) dealers own up to it and try to address it as much as possible.

Personally I'd love to be in the shop when the dash comes out. I would inspect the specific rattle source points...I would then try to get them to felt every single contact point. Wonder if this would be possible...would be worth a day off work to be right there. I just might try this if I have to go in again. I wonder if they would allow this.

Fact is, no one knows your car like you do, perhaps being an aide to the tech by knowing the exact areas could help.
I totally wish i could do this. I am severely OCD about the rattles, and I just know that the Tech who doesn't have to drive the car everyday will never hear what I hear. I hear EVERY single rattle, squeak, creak, gronk, whistle, squiggle, clonk, clunk and groan. I am considering giving up driving altogether and living life in a hermetically sealed velvet lined hyperbolic chamber encased in amber. which is what I expected the Lexus GS to be. I guess I was confusing it with the LS.

has any one ever considered getting some of that expanding insulating foam and just spraying down between the windshield and dash until it just all solidifies into one giant mass?

I feel like my dash rattles are fixed ----

BUT the navigation screen and around the middle air conditioning vents --- the middle area (radio, nav, all of that) is made of plastic.

So whenever I drive, I heard that plastic creak and make noise. It drives me insane. I don’t think it can ever be fixed because its cheap plastic.

What kills me is every single other car on earth for some reason doesn’t have that problem (at least none I’ve been in).

The car is almost perfect except for that.

Got the car back. They told me they did the dash TSB. So far, during driving, so good. But cold weather will be the test.

As an aside, I mentioned the squealing brakes. I had the original dusty brake pads removed about 6 months after I bought the car. The replacements were squealing. They replaced these with new pads and shims. And told me it was another TSB. No charge....

Also mentioned one of the key fob batteries went bad and asked them to replace them both. Was told this was under warranty so no charge.

Must say that I rolled out of that checkup pretty happy. My last quote of the original post is softening.......

I think so or at least that's what I was told. I was charged nothing for that effort. And it took an extra day with loaner.

Bought the car just under 3 years ago for a reference.

It's interesting. My dash has been perfectly quiet. The only time I had noise from the dash was when they installed my Escort Entourage tracking system inside the dash and didn't secure it properly. But I took it back, had them remove it and remount it in a secure way with insulation foam inside the center console instead.

Good for you - I'm jealous. This is the second time the 2007 GS350 has gone in for dash noise issues. First was somewhere behind the nav. Sounded like styrofoam on styrofoam. Nasty annoying. After that it was just rattling.

Cold weather is the ultimate test.

If you live in a Warm Climate, it's not surprising. I have never heard any noise in mine until the temperatures start getting below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Also when it hits Zero and then goes to 30 for a few weeks, it will creak as well.
