I had an episode yesterday where I wasn't able to open my car with the remote, I thought it might be the battery. I brought the other set and I was able to unlock it but wasn't able to crank it. It kept saying CHECK COMPLETE but didn't crank. After few times I thought it might be the steering so I wigglered it and it did crank, thank GOD. I then went and changed both batteries and both remotes now work. What If it didn't want to work while am outside, or out of town, what da heck one can do? You can't crank it and you are stock? I am sure vehicle makers and other companies who use the same method are not dumb. I am sure many of you experts know so much about this. Please enlighten me and other naive owners out there. Thanks ahead.
There is a mechanical key in the remote which you can use to open the door. Likewise, to start the engine, just put the remote right against the start button and press it (no need to have a battery in it).
Usually, both remotes go at the same time regardless of use, so it appears that there is something wrong with the system.
They both are working fine now. What i meant is if the battery die on me for some reason, I know i can use the mechanical key to open the door, but I won't be able to crank it, right? That's what happened with one of the remotes, it kept saying the remote isn't detected. When I changed the battery everything was good. So how can i crank it with a mechanical key and a remore that is dead? No way right? I know am confusing.

just put your (dead) remote right next to the start button (remote touches the start button), and push the start button. your car should start. it explains all of this in your owners manual in case your battery fails in your remote.
Got you. One more thing, is it true that sometimes the remote won't work to unlock the car if I am carrying another remote for my other vehicle for example? Interference?
