I'm not sure how the procedure is different for the AWD. Just get the right filter, which I believe is different and follow the instructions on the box.

The rubber o-ring gasket gets replaced. A new one comes with the new filter.

I see the big O ring, changing my oil today, but dont see where the little one goes. The filter did include a large one, a much smaller one that is flat and a clear plastic piece, I am guessing for bleeding out the oil from the housing?, looks like the center piece inside the unit is spring loaded, that fits inside the actual filter.

You are correct.

Like I've mentioned on my previous post that the filter on the GS460 might be different than the 350, but I have to take the rachet (with no socket on it), and stick it in to the end of the filter housing to remove this one screw before I can stick that clear plastic piece in, in order to bleed the oil out of the filter. And, on the end of that screw is where the little O-Ring goes. But, the small O-Ring that came with my filter is the same shape as the big one, so it's not flat like yours. But, since all previous 350 owners said to throw away the small O-Ring, maybe it's not there on the 350. The picture above was not mine, so I can't see the other side of the filter, so I can say for sure.

For the DIY'ers including me... BUMP!

I hate having the dealer do stuff to my car. Mainly because the car is lowered and so on. I'm not cheap, but the headache (for me to raise the car up, remove my front lip, etc) I'll do it at home when I want.

After you unscrew this cap, you can push in this plastic spout that comes with the filter, and it'll drain 99% of the oil out of the oil filter. At this point, you can use the "F" type filter remover to remove the filter and drain the rest out. This helps eliminate the mess tremendously. The other thing is when you remove this small cap, you will see the small o-ring, and so you should replace that as well.
Would you mind posting some
pics of this procedure? I
just want to have a visual
of what you're describing.

where do buy a filter cap wrench made of metal, like the ones in the pics? I bought a 65mm to 67mm filter cap wrench made of plastic, which expands and slips to easily. I went to a few local auto shops and autozone, krager, and napa. Only napa auto parts had the wrench, which was made of plastic.

I use a strap wrench. It is cheaper and works better in my opinion.

I bought this set from harbor freight for $6.

http://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece...hes-94096.html

I put the 65mm by hand to see if it would fit, it seems to fit but I'm not due for an oil change yet so i'm no 100% it will work on my RWD 06 gs 300.
