Did mine the other night, pretty simple if you've done it before. Now all I have to do is reset the display oil reminder light which I've just read up on.
Also, my walmart filter wrench was slipping when I used it. Took a closer look and saw it had 2 steps. A bigger (67mm I presume) and a smaller one which was 65mm. It was slipping because the edge, 67mm was not gripping and partially the 65mm was. I ended up grabbing a grinder and cutting it down since it was night time already and I wasn't about to wait next day. It works fine but still slips a little, I'll be ordering the correct one in metal for the next change. Now all I have to deal with is that pesky engine recall mess.

Just did my RX350 this am. Great tips! The only difference I see:
- I have the square nut that I had to remove to use the plastic sprout (that came with the filter) to drain the oil.
- The plastic cover for the RX to access the oil filter is alot smaller.
- That darn AST filter wrench kept on getting stuck while I was putting the filter assembly back on. After carefully reading the directions again, found out we don't need the wrench. (just need to hand tighten) duhhh...
- I put in 6.5 qt of 5W-30 Mobil 1 oil
Total Cost: $32 for Oil at Costco + ~$5 for filter. = $37.
thanks again, can't believe my local lexus dealers charges $80 for an oil change. Big sticker shock.

Factor in your labor costs, and how much it would have been?
When the instructions say: (1) Remove bolt, insert drain pipe into threaded hole with force and drain oil.
Is that the transparent plastic piece that comes with the filter besides the O-rings?

Lexus of Pines is around $55 but its not the price factor that matters to me. Unwanted car washes, door dings, people driving it, etc is the problem. I try to take my car to the dealer only when needed such as recalls and tsbs.

just did my own oil change for the 1st time.. was sick of paying 70-80 bucks for regular oil. was simple i must say after reading up on on this thread. GOOD job man thanks. i was a bit iffy on the whole reset oil maint display but that was real simple to do. I had some problems with my local dealer ***cerritos lexus*** cough.. last oil change they forget to mention i was low on coolant and when i did the oil change i notice that i was leaking and it was all over the engine block how can you not notice that? haha well then i found a rag in front of my radiator that has been there for a good while... THANKS CERRITOS LEXUS!!!
5w20w mobil 1 FS - $37
oil filter - $4.93
oil drain gasket(washer) -$.93
$43
The dealer does has a special for $55 right now but regular oil compared to FS for less is GREAT
coolant - $17
one thing lead to another new rain x wipers
car ramp and some other detailing stuff...

Its soaked in dirty oil. I don't see anything unusual, the oil turns to that color by 3500-4000 mile mark, that means the oil is doing a good job keeping the engine clean as its suspending all contaminants until the oil is changed, thats why it turns to a dark color like that.

FYI, this was the first oil change after getting my car (pre-owned) and it's looked the same the following 5 times I've done it. The only difference from the pictures is that I am getting a lot more oil coming out. They must not have filled it properly previously. I usually get a little over 6.25 quarts out and I put 6.6 quarts in, so that oil drain pan is almost filled to the top.
