Awful squeaking breaks
i haven't gone for my first freebie yet, LOL! i'm sitting at around 750 km on the odo so far, waiting till i hit 1,600 km before i go in. will most likely take this to regency lexus, as i prolly don't wanna drive all the way to richmond lexus to get service done. btw, no problems with squeeky brake pads yet (touch wood). the oem pads are definitely very dusty for sure, but it's something i'm willing to live with to have better stopping power.
LOL! I only drive my car to/from work, which is less than 10 KM away from home. And I always end up driving the Odyssey during the weekends for family outing. So yeah, not putting on clicks on the odo!
btw, when I traded my old TL in for the GS, I only had 145K KM on the odo (the TL was a 1999 model year)

Update... I spoke with my dealer just before the holiday about my squeeks. Evidently Lexis is addressing the problem in Jan. The are inspecting my car to get it on the list for Jan. They mentioned that it was a rotor change. So call your dealer.
Bozer,
Your situation is completely unacceptable. I can't even imagine the dlrshp treating you that way. They should have done for you what was done for me. I think I mentioned b4 that I changed my original pads to low dust, and within a couple of wks awful squealing started. Absolutely unacceptable, so I took it to the dealer and they put new high perf. pads back on the car. Great stopping ability, NO squealing...but quite a bit of dust. I just keep up with doing the wheels and all's good. You have to find another dealership. Now.

I'm about to call my boy at Toyota and see if he can help me out. This is so frustrating.
It is very lame. The nav upgrade could make me feel better as well. Maybe it is worth the call, but the dealership has been excellent on every request that I have made. The squeal is pretty bad.
Would you mind posting the number you called or messaging me with it?
I would like to talk to them too. I was going to buy a second Lexus and this has really turned me off. It's really disapointing to say the least.

^^ Same here. I would like to voice my concern to the same people, as I love my GS otherwise, but my wife and I hate this and will NEVER get another car if all they can tell us is that "They all do that!"
As someone who works for a Lexus dealership, I would like to offer my apologies to all the third gen GS owners out there who have this problem.
I dont think Lexus ever meant to do this, and it really is a huge let down after the strength of the 2nd gen GS. However once the brake problem is fixed I hope there will not be a bad ater taste in anybody's mouth.
Please dont loose faith, we are still driving the best (imo) vehicles available.

Up until the last few weeks I loved my GS. I just hate the brakes squealing and the lack of any clue as to when it will be repaired. So I was thinking about it.. but now I'm leaning towards "not".
Growing up I wanted a GS soooo bad but never thought I'd be able to afford one. I finally buy one and then I have these two minor issues (brakes, dash rattling). Sadly, even though they are minor, they are incredibly annoying and there is apparently no hope of it being repaired anytime soon. At least if there was a date as to when it could be repaired. I'm just amazed I spent all this money and Im having problems that arent getting fixed. Every car I've ever owned if I had a problem, I bring it in, someone looks at it, and it gets fixed. Surprising from Lexus thats all. If my problems got fixed tomorrow I'd probably go back to wanting to buy that car for my wife.

If you look at all the recent Lexus re-designs, one would wonder what direction Toyota is taking Lexus, its certainly not up. I for one will not be buying another Lexus Until Lexus gets its act together. Give me back the old Lexus tanks of 10 or 15 years ago. Those were quality built cars, no rattles and squeak and more reliable.

Same exact sentiments. When the 2GS came out, I wanted one in the worse way. I too didn't think it was affordable. Then in July of '07 my dream comes true. Dash rattles and pathethic squealing brakes have really tainted my view of what Lexus has produced. My biggest complaint is how Lexus chooses to handle the situation....very slow...very unlike Lexus.

I must add the corp. customer service gals(Andrea and Jennifer) were very sincere and apologetic(I wasn't being a **** either on the phone, wanted to be respectful). After the conversation with the CS gal, I asked her to transfer me to the customer survey. I gave them very high marks for their service.
Going in tommorrow for the navi upgrade.
Take care Bozer....keep me posted on your situation.
What really bother me the most is that Lexus knew about the rattles since 06 and the the brakes since 07, they have decided not to fix it in the factory, instead choosing to let the dealer take our brand new dash board apart and reassemble it, once that is none, it will never be as good as new.
