Awful squeaking breaks
I just had new OEM pads installed on my 1999 LS400, and it squeals like a stuck pig when its damp, cold, or the car just got started. It's extremely annoying to be driving a somewhat nice looking car that sounds like a city bus at every minor stop. Glad to hear it's not just me, but I'm hoping it clears up...the whole reason I went with OEM was to avoid some nasty side effect like that.
As repeated ad nauseum, I don't really see any excuse for it, especially on something as basic as brakes

Update fellas. Just received a call from my Lexus guy and he stated that he received an email with the TSIB for the brakes and calipers this morning. He told me since it was an email the TSIB should be in effect hopefully within the months end.
Keep you posted.

I would think it has to be a cost issue. Lexus dont want to spend too much on anything to do with GS because they sell so few of them. To me, thats a mistake on their part. If they seriously want to contend in the mid size sport sedan segment, they need to keep improving the GS, not ignore it.
hey guys, am looking at buying a 2007 GS 350...but this thread has me worried. sounds like a fix came out -- any updates? what about the rattles? i'm in texas so maybe i will be ok here...
My brakes have started to squeak a bit near the end (i.e. right before I come to a complete stop). It's a sharp high-pitched sound. I have 32,000 km on the car (20,000 miles). Is this normal? More importantly, will Lexus fix this for me free under a TSIB? I feel like I get the runaround at my local Lexus dealership up here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They told me if there is more than like 10,000 km (6,000 miles) they won't fix it for free.
I would think brakes would last more than 32,000 km/20,000 miles. Am I mistaken and do I need new brakes?
Thanks in advance!
P.S. My 7 year old Nissan Maxima (worth about 1/10th of what I paid for the GS) didn't make nearly as much brake noise and certainly not as much dash rattle noise before I sold it. I wonder if I should mention that to my Lexus service advisor.
