Got it taken care of today. They said that a lot of break dust builds up now and to just spray it with a hose if you hear it get squeaky. Wasn't squeaking at all since they did that. Hopefully this doesn't come back often.

Update of Sadness:

Woke up today to drive and the squeaking is as bad as it was before. I knew this was going to happen. Spraying water in there is not a solution at all.

Hopefully this doesn't turn into a big problem where I have to argue with them to fix it. Squeaking breaks at every corner is not something I expect from a Lexus =(

I've only got a very occasional squeal from my brakes... maybe once a week or so. Have not figured out how to reliably reproduce it and it usually goes away. I usually wash the car once a week, so that may help as well.

HORRIBLE UPDATE:

I just called them again. It's been months now of squealing breaks. It's at its worst now. It squeals when I apply any pressure to the breaks. So incredibly embarrasing. I presume since its getting cold now (this began in the beginning of the summer btw, maybe even spring I can't even remember anymore) its getting WORSE.

So I called Bay Ridge Lexus just now prepared to flip out on them. They told me still no word, no ETA on when these new "Clips" will be coming in.

Remember, I had the pads replaced originally due to break dust. Now I wish I could just have my dusty pads back. They won't do any work for me because they want to wait for the clips. So basically I can drive around looking like a moron for the rest of my life depending on when these stupid clips come in.

Did I mention now that its cold, my dash is rattling again?

Did I mention I have 6000 miles and barely ever drive my 07 GS350?

Did I mention I was planning on buying my wife an IS for Christmas but now there is no way in hell I will ever buy another Lexus. This is so sad because I paid so much money for this car and now I officially hate it. I look at other people who are buying Maxima's and other cheaper cars who have better tech and no problems. Hell I never once had a problem with my Honda Accord.

What can I do guys? I'm seriously mad right now and embarrassed to drive my Lexus.. the car I wanted my whole life.

The guy on the phone told me to call Lexus headquarters. I at least thought they would shave the pads or do something...

UGH I want to drive my car through their front window at this point.

IMO they should at least give me a loaner until its fixed... or try to do something.. anything.

The worst part is Marlon (the guy who originally was helping me) no longer works there now. He sucked anyway I guess.

Two thumbs WAY down for Lexus. Will never buy another car from them again. May never buy another Luxury car either. What I want out of a car is too look nice and not be a problem. God help me

Tell them that you dont give a <beep> about TSBs, you shouldnt even know what this is. Just fix the problem. 6000K is still way to low to blame customer. Or ...go to another dealer.

Wow i thought i was the only one. I just left Bay Ridge Lexus dealer today picking up a new set of brake pads all around. I just changed my old pads to ebc brake pads and they are squeeking, so i said eff it let me change back to dealer pads and see if it will stop. All hell will break loose if my car squeeks after i replace the pads. I didn't even know the dealer had low dust pads .

If I go and find another dealer, will I have to pay there? Or does the dealer not even matter at all... any lexus will do it?

I just can't believe they won't do anything. Its mind boggling. Really, just let me suffer until the clips come in? Theres nothing that can be done? I dont buy that.

In my job if someone needs something, I get it to them as fast as possible. There is never a "wait it out". If anything I take care of it with a temporary solution or something.

I remember the first few times I went there, I'd get a call the next day asking me about their service. And I would give them high scores all across the board. Now of course nobody calls so I can give them zeros, lol.

Is it that hard to get good breaks for this car?

Also, anyone else worried about selling this car someday? I have a feeling the reputation isn't very good for this car and it will be a hard sale.

Also i forgot to mention. When i step on my brakes slightly and let go it takes a short while to let go. My mechanic said it seems to be the ABS. I've had that problem from when i first purchased the car, and i always thought it was normal due to the big brakes in the front. It grabs sudden and let go the rotors sudden. It's a very few times that it engages smoothly. I'll check that also.

bozer, I know exactly how you feel, I had the squeaky brakes, dash rattle, center concole rattle, door rattle, windshield tapping noise and the sunroof rattle, all this in a 1500 mile new car costing $52K. To me there is absolutly no excuse what so ever for these problems to be so wide spread in a car costing more than $50K. Especially since the problems have been around for 3 years already and they dont cost that much to fix if done in the factory. Lexus really drop the ball on this 3GS. Its almost like the car was never design or test in the cold weather.

That's all BS. You need to go to another Lexus dealership. Tell them about your bad experience at Bay Ridge Lexus. Don't talk to any of the the advisors. Talk to the service manager or the general manager. If you go to another dealership, they shouldn't charge you as long as it's still under warranty. It's just poor prep work from the technician that serviced your brakes. I've got a 06 GS430 with the factory dust pads and i've got no problems whatsoever. I'm on the 2nd set (including the set that came new). no squeals at all. Sometimes the backing plate is bent, a piece of rock stuck somewhere by the brakes. could even be the rear brakes.

I'm a tech at Lexus of St. Louis. yes we have seen brake squeal on alot of 3GS's, we just replace the pads, cut the rotors, and put anti-squeal glue everywhere. currently, there's a TSB for brake squeal on IS, ES, RX, and supposedly TSB coming out for GS. For the time being we just give the customer new brakes and we haven't seen any come back.

I say we all go there on the same day and bust their heads in.

What a bunch of slackers. Theres no way they can't fix this problem in some way at least until the clips come in.

Anyone know of a good substitute for bay ridge lexus? Ray Catena maybe will fix my breaks squealing? This is so insane.. such a minor problem they wont fix so now I hate Lexus. Would make more sense to try to help me in some way rather then have me bad mouth them for the rest of my life.

just have them apply some anti squeak compound on the back of the pads and either resurface the rotors or sand down the rotors

that should temporarily get rid of the squeaking until the new clips are in

if not, pay someone to do it, not pricey

this isn't rocket science, it's well known that dustless pads are more prone to squeak, but you don't need MIT scientist to make it stop

Yeah thats what is making me mad. I know its not rocket science. I don't know much about cars at all but I know something like this isn't impossible to fix. They just don't want to do the work twice (once now and then again when clips come). I'm sick of waiting
