I just got my GS back from the dealership for dealing with dash rattles. I would saw they improved it by 80%. There is still a lose plastic type rattle in the left corner of the dash around the speaker and vent. However this only happens on moderate to severe bumps. They put Styrofoam blocks at strategic locations between the dash and windshield and wrapped the Nav unit with a thin tape.
Now for the experts! I ask them about reprogramming a used smart key such that can be purchased on ebay for $70. The said--- that if the key has already been programmed they have to go into the car's computer and dump all the codes and start all over with each key again. They assured me that this is not cheap, and obviously as expensive as paying them $300 for a new key. TRUE or FALSE ??
Question #2 is regarding the common complaint with the low beam headlights not projecting far enough. I ask them to raise the low beams just a little. The Service Rep told me they raised them a little but because the car has a self leveling system the computer would read them as out of line and bring them back to spec. TRUE or FALSE ??
I'm a very loyal customer if the dealership has my trust. This is the first time I have gone to this dealership and I feel like I'm being lied to. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
1) i think this is the 2nd time i read about programming a programmed key and that it's going to cost more since they have to erase, etc... i can't say if it's true or not though, but it's the 2nd time i read about it
2) total BS. the autoleveling computer adjust the headlights according to the height sensors at the wheels. adjusting the headlights changes the angle at the headlights. 2 different things
