Ignition Key Jammed - Not Normal Key Issue
Well I guess it could be the normal issue...
BUT I drove about an hour from my house for a service call and went to turn the car off - no dice.
I said screw it, went inside and did the call then turned the car back on leaving just fine and I stopped at a gas station to get some coffee.
The car turned off, but the key jammed in between the very left and lock...I wiggled for about 20 minutes then said screw it and tore the dash apart.
The transmission sensors were fine, and not causing it...the wheel wasn't locked, etc, etc - I did spray some dry graphite stuff in there a few weeks ago but I never had an issue.
I got the cylinder out (after not realizing it literally coud have been so much easier to pull out) but the key is still jammed.
My question is, the key obviously pushes in on the knub in the hole and turns it to the right. Is it possible to start the car and move it to my house until I can source a new cylinder and key? My car is a 95...
Oh yeah, merry fckn christmas to me...

Doubt the problem is the same but my key happen to jam on me for the first time today. Wouldn't let me pull it out.
The shifter was in park but I had to push it up "some more" until I heard a click and then I was able remove the key.

Car is back home now...I would post up how I did it (and I didn't cut any wires) but I'm not going to post it for fear that it may be used in the wrong way...let's just say, the 97+ guys with transponders may hate their anti-theft system, but it's there for a good reason.

yeah, brother had an ls400 he got "for parts". We ended up getting it fixed up, but it didn't come with an ignition tumbler. Before we replaced the ignition tumbler... well, let's just say it was a little nerve wracking driving it down the block...
Tumbler looks similar, iirc, so I have an idea of how unsettling it was.
An aftermarket alarm is definitely a good idea...

I'm not going to post it, but if someone ever did want it they would have to have a LOT of posts and I guess PM the moderators to PM me, that way it could be verified to good use only, and not for malicious purposes.
I'm debating on doing a push start ignition now, with a proximity sensor.
