i just got my 10k mile service at dynamic in westminister and was talking to to sonny about reliability, a master lexus tech, and he said that the new gen engines in the GS, and other new lexus vehicles, are not built as good as the old inline 6...mind you he still have a 06 GS and loves it but his opinion favors the previous gen engines.
Bottom like from the discussion was that Lexus/Toyota will always have good engines and reliability is not a concern he has with the new engines from Lexus...
I think as long as you drive it stock or with the typical minor mods of intake and exhaust...etc...it's still a toyota and it'll last...plus lexus has great customer service so i'm sure we'll fine in the long run
Some diehard Germ fanboys on another forum were saying and I quote:
"I wonder why the current Lexus GS engine failures and spontaneous engine fires never made it into the headlines. Oh, that's right, because Toyota/Lexus kisses so much *** and has paid journalists at every press - so I would think."
"I heard about those Lexus GS engine fires and failures too. I read about them on the Club Lexus forums."
Just was wondering if there was any truth to them.

Sounds to me like the German Car guys "Swiftboated" the GS, since they didn't have any facts.
There are ongoing discussion in the ES350 forum on a few issues and stories of dealer buybacks. Just to name a few from the top of my head, transmission flaring (slipping), uncommanded acceleration (which has 16 incidents reported on NHTSA), and the usual stuff such as rattles and wind noise.
