I just got the car back last night from my body shop. The windshield has been replaced (OEM). I don't have to look through the big scratch and star effect through the light anymore. Yeah!!! I was worry about getting the "ticking noise" from windshield after replacement, like everyone else. I brought in the tsb on the windshield to show him. This is the guy who has been doing all lexus windshields for the last 10 years. He said he has been taking those plastic pins off anyways and he didn't know that we are having noise problem with them. These are plastic pins to help position the windshield and they don't really do much. He also stated that it will be a pain in the *** to cut them off afterwards. He gave me one of the plastic pin and I'll post a picture of it tonight when I get home. Quiet and no ticking noise for me..
The windshield costs $1003. The total bill comes up to $1400 and change. I have 0 deductible on comprehensive and insurance pays it all. Ouch! It's an expansive windshield so be careful out there.
Wow, I that's a crazy price. If you have Geico and mechanical breakdown coverage, they will also replace windshields for $100 deductible regardless of what your comprehensive deductible is.
I have Amica ins. I have been using them for over 10 years now and they covers all my cars, house.... everything but my office stuffs. They have been very good and very prompt with claims. My comp is 0 ded. and 250 on collision. They have been consistenly listed in consumer report as one of the top auto ins. company.
That's exactly the piece that I had taken photos of in my thread. My GS is at the dealership right now supposedly getting these pins hacked off for the 2nd time.
The bodyshop owner saw the TSB and where that pins would be located after the installation, he said they are definitely not a easy task. And, they have to be really careful not to damage any paint during the process. I told him... yup.. heard it from some lexy owners already.

Unfortunately it is very hard to keep a greatsmile over this. Hopefully the new dealer fixes it.
And all this time, I thought that ticking sound from my 99 ES300 was from the A/C or heat system. The windshield! Since we're about to sell it for an 07 GS350 AWD, I don't think I'll do more than explain it to the buyer if it happens when he'she is test driving. Funny, it only happens once per drive, no matter how long we drive it, and not always after the same amount of minutes of driving.
