Default 3rd With Glove Box Problems

Is anyone here having problems opening their glove box?? Since I took delivery of my 3rd I have been having problems opening it. For some reason whenever I press the release button nothing happens.. It's very seldom that when I press the button it drops open on it's own, it usually doesn't open without the help of my fingers trying to pry it open.. Is this a common problem that a lot of you guys are experiencing, or am I the only one??

My glove box behaves the same as yours - you need to push the button and simultaneously pull it down by working your fingers into the seam gap. For some reason It doesn't bother me. I'm just glad that the door doesn't squeak or rattle like my 01 GS300 did.

As NYlexus said, the manual doesn't fit well without a bit of forcing.

Mine exhibits this behavior as well -- you press the button and nothing happens.. I hadn't really given it much thought until now.. I thought it was that I wasn't pushing the button hard enough. However, now that I think about it, it does this each and every time I've opened it.. Keep in mind that mine has only been opened <30 times since I bought the car..

I guess I'll have the dealer check it out (along with my sucky gas milage) when I get my oil change a ways down the line..

Gotcha, I just wanted to see if this was just a problem on my GS. Next time I go to Lexus I'm gonna see if they can fix it some how..

I push the button and the door drops down smoothly every time. No need to pry open.

Possibly could be by design? A glove box that just drops down usually drops right on the legs of a passenger so maybe this is meant to be a bit friendlier?

no problems with the glove box. But it's odd that the manual won't fit in the glove box either.

mine is also very smooth. i put the manual in the top slot after taking out one of the booklets to make it fit. and since nothing else fit in the little sectioned-off compartments, i put everything on/in the door so that it folds down with the door, like my other booklets, reg and ins info and my front license plate still closes fine, although it looks a bit messy.

The trick is to press and hold your finger slighly longer than other glove compartment that
you have used to. Try it.

Don't leave your registration and insurance info in your car - put it in your wallet. Car thieves break into cars to get this information.
