Default useless features

Prior to purchasing the GS, these features were really important to me, but now that I have the car I find them useless or that I seldom use them.

-auto folding side-view mirrors (there should be a feature to have them automatically close when shutting off the car)
-headlamp washers, who really uses this? and does it even clean?
-auto trunk closer, if it was the like the mercedes trunk closer it would be more useful, 90% of the time I close the trunk hard enough
-dvd player, if i was a soccer mom, it'd be useful while i'm waiting for the kids, but I have yet to watch a movie in the car. once the dvd player is modded, then it will become more useful
-the pollen button, i'm supposed to press the button once i smell pollen, isn't that a little too late?
-tape player, i don't have any cassette tapes.

honorable mentions....
rear sun shade button all way in the back of the hidden panel, i use this button almost on a daily basis

That's what "luxury" is all about I guess. Features that you don't really need.

But yeah... Most of the features as you said could've been useful but are simply not very well implemented.

frebay, i hear ya! esp about folding mirrors, DVD, and pollen.

- headlamp washers - sometimes if i wash my windshield, the headlamp sprays automatically and gets water sprinkles everywhere! (anyone know how to stop this?)

- rear sunshade, loved it while i had untinted windows, now never use it, but it is cool how it retracts automatically if you are backing up.

- trunk closer - i like it - i use the inside pull latch to close the trunk, but usually that inside latch is not good enough to close it all the way, so the closer gets it done for me. it took a while for those springs to loosen up to the point this works. now my fingerprints are not on the trunk lid.

I agree with some of your list, but I use the tape player for my XM Radio

- The Tape Player is the only way I can connect to my ipod. Wouldn't be necessary if the GS had a direct audio connector (as is promised on the IS250-350)
- The DVD player can play audio while in motion. If fact I already put more than 500 tracks on a single 4.7 GB DVD+R and listen to it without having to change discs often. I would have traded away the video player for a DVD/CD MP3 player

I'm still getting used to the keyless entry as well....i guess it will take a while for the habit of reaching for your keys when you approach your car to go away....

Headlamp washers dont work unless the lights are on?

There must be reason behind the madness...any thoughts?

Here in the Northeast Headlamp washers are important because they contain antifreeze. In the winter with snow and mud anytime it can clear the headlamps without stopping.

Because you don't know or need to know if they're dirty when they're off in the daylight.

I agree.

Here I don't agree. In New England, our headlamps get cluttered with all sorts for crap, including bugs, road pollen, sand, salt. There are times where the headlights are ineffective unless you wipe them down. Also, if you hit the "mist" function, the lamps should automatically get washed at night (I think)

I agree. I said this on a previous post, what's the point. I thought I remember Lexus originally intending to do a closer like the RX. Maybe at the last minute they decided not to due to space, but the latch closer was still in place. Many other cars do it, I also don't see the point.

This I like a lot.

The system is always filtering many allergens out of the air through the filtration system. I think this button goes through a programmed cycle to remove alergens that may have made it into the cabin when opening the doors. I find it works well though. I am very susceptable to allergens lately. They say this is one of the worst years for high pollen counts.

Agreed.

I always leave it on. When you back up, it automatically goes out of the way! I like it because it keeps the sun out and mainly because it adds a little bit of privacy. I still haven't gotten tint yet. Need to.

Default driver side bib

I am not sure how useless this is, but I thought it was a defect initially. On the driver side seat between the seat and the center console, there is a flap of cloth in between which runs parallel to the ground. It is there to prevent losing coins, pens, etc in between.

Why are there two places to see outside temperature?

Anyone know how to change the odometer from total mileage to trip mileage?

trip meter is in the hidden push-button drop-down control panel. just press odo. to switch from total mileage, trip a and trip b.

also, the temp shows in two places when you have "DISP" on outdoor temp. you can keep on pressing DISP on your steering wheel to get other stuff like mpg meter or avg mpg, or you can just have it blank and only show odometer.
