***NEW GS Headlight Question***
We live in what was sunny California. It has rained everyday since we purchased our car. Our GS 300 is a week old and we finally got a clear day to clean it today.
We noticed we have condensation in the headlights.
Does this seem normal?
Is this going to be my first warrenty item?
Frebay and Carminesc have you seen this in yours yet?
Thanks

Actually, I saw this before in another thread and people started ranting about it. I don't know what the big deal is; it is just some safety precaution to allow for the condensation if I remember correctly. You are not alone though. So it isn;t a problem, just part of the car I think.

I'l be honest having had multiple Lexus. Lexus is not perfect, period. They just have the least problems to others. And one of the Lexus archilles heels, is condensation in headlights. Not sure why. Maybe b./c they are styled and always so different and curved to other car makers. Whatever the reason, if you have a Lexus, you simply, may or will experience condensation. Something I live with.
But I would take your car back and tell them swap those lights out. Its way too early for that.
And no cursing please.

nothing to fix bro...they need to replace them....and yes, I would make them replace both....chances are if one does it the second will in a matter of time
best of luck...let us know how it goes....

Is that a personal attack? Geez! I thought we were above this here; we are adults talking about cars more expensive than some people's homes! Haha. Well if you want to call me names be a man about it and PM me.
And by the way, what is a "NEWB" just out of curiosity?

:I haven't had that problem on my past ES3(92), RX3(99), or GX4(04). Good luck with it and I hope it doesn't detract from a nearly flawless car.
From what I heard from Lexus that the condensation will go away if you turn the head light on for about 5 minutes so the heat from the headlight can burns the moisture out. I think they went to the vented type headlight housing since the HID can generated a lot of heat.
A lot of heat from the headlight + the outside temperature, can cause the headlight seal to soften on the 2nd GS and the moisture can get in( without ventilation). So, the moisture is trapped inside the housing.
We were joking about the headlight defroster at one of the Lexus's meeting, but the engineer said the headlight itself is the defroster( heat ). But the moisture has nowhere to go. We'll see.
