That's pretty bad but most of those are probably minor fixes and just come with being literally one of the very first people to get this car. That's still an unusual amount, but with electronic problems like this- if they are going to happen at all, they will happen in the very beginning.

Just bring it back, tell them to fix it, and enjoy driving your free milage / free gas loaner.

I hope people would first post pics of their new GS first before I believe any problems. Not trying to discredit anyone, but after all this is a great time to troll on a new car.

Interesting... quick search on google for some stuff by you says as of a month ago you had a newish Acura TL. Do you still own both cars or did you trade in the TL?

You were also the only person to give your phone a horrible review.

Question condensation headlight housing

dealer swap car, i might buy a serious amount of condensation in both the headlight and the smaller drl assembly. Are they both in one unit? Strangely there is even moisture on the chrome part
on the top of the housing. Does anyone else have problem? jan 05 production

I know that this is common problem for us 2nd gen owners. And now it looks like some 3rd gen owners too.

I hope this link helps.

This is comon and my 06 GS430 has the condensation after the rain or wash the car. It will dry out after you turn the headlight on for about 10 minutes. It's an opened housing designed due to the AFS( Adaptive front lighting system).

I've had 6 Lexus vehicles since 97 including a '00 GS400 and I've never experienced this problem. I do recognize it as an issue that should be corrected, but don't expect it to be resolved too quickly unless they've caught it already in production.

The best we can do is to report it to the dealerships, let them attempt to correct it at least twice, and then call customer service and register a complaint. Remember that the dealership and Lexus customer service will do the best they can based on the information they have, so treat them with courtesy while continuing to be persistent.

This action from enough owners will encourage Lexus to produce replacement parts. Everyone who has registered their complaint will then be contacted to bring their vehicle in for the replacement.
I dont have my GS yet. Its on its way. I did notice this with a few GS and LS I have seen in the past year though. I never understood it. I have had a few cars in my family. Nothing above 40k price range. None of them ever had condensation problems. Well a cracked taillight did accrue a few inches of water but hey, it was cracked. LOL.

This GS will be my first venture into autos above 50k and this whole condensation bit is turning me off. No matter what the "official" word is, I will never buy into this is "normal". Condensation to be a part of headlight design is bad bad bad.

Moisture and electronics dont mix big time. Condensation from being ona ship a few weeks is salty moisture, I think. I could be wrong but if it is, then thats even worse. Salt moisture only speeds up the process of rusting and messing stuff up. small problems will probably be electrical shorts but that can lead to bigger issues. Condensation to be a part of headlight design is bad bad bad.

Oh yeah, and as mentioned in an earlier post...the water marks layer up over the course of ownership. This is a GORGEOUS luxury automobile. Who wants the headlights to look dirty from the inside? Condensation to be a part of headlight design is bad bad bad.

Anyway, I notice the last post on this thread was in March. It is now May. I am waiting for a GS which is on a ship somewhere maybe accumulating condesation and might get here by the end of the month. Maybe its fixed. The headlight dudes really need a spanking for this. Condensation to be a part of headlight design is bad bad bad.

editted..to say looknow's post quoted because I fell he seems to have the correct idea toward a long term solution. We MUST NOT accept this as "normal". Condensation to be a part of headlight design is bad bad bad.

That is the sixty-four thousand dollar question. Some have the problem and others don't. Many here, myself included, have had the dealer replace the headlights with a new set. Now this is 'good will' and by no means will it guarantee to fix the problem.
