Hi guys,
I have an issue with my Lexus, I replaced door speakers front and rear.
First I replaced the front with Pioneer TS 1675v2 4ohm, and things were fine.
About a week ago I replaced the rear door speakers with JBL Club 6520 3ohm.
After that I noticed the subwoofer stopped working completely! now I got the bass from the speakers only and the dash speakers in the middle don't work, The subwoofer is in bad shape but it was working now its off completely.
Is there any explanation for this? Maybe the new speakers effected the power from the amplifier so it couldn't keep up with the new set? Any Ideas will be appreciated.
thanks
The mark levinson system is 8ohms, the speakers you put in are 4ohm and 3ohm. The stock amp can't put out the demanded power and that probably explains why the sub stopped, it needs the most power and the amp is struggling. Amp might overheat too
The ML sub gets blown out over time, and shorts out the entire system. Im sure the wrong Ohms speakers didnt help.
Some people get the surround repair kit, others get the Goldwood 10" 8ohm. Its cheap and does the job. I replaced the gasket from the old one and just sat it down. (no bracket)
I had it for a while but it blew too, so I dropped in a Dayton Audio (on the left). Sounds good.
I used these front, but you can use any 6.5 inch 8 ohm.
DS18 in the rear. Ebay adapters, had to be shaved a little to fit.
And this one for central dash (model # in pic). Side dash I used OEMs
Thank you all for your replies,
I switched back to original OEM speakers but still my subwoofer is not working, I think I will buy a used one or an aftermarket replacement. I tried to power it with AA battery just to hear a little static noise but no luck its not working so I dont know if the repair kit might fix it it might be damaged.
The dash speaker also not working, maybe there is some damage from the amplifier?
The sub and central dash speaker likely just broke. I don't have the ML system and never had a sub in the first place, but when I got my car the center dash speaker never worked. I pulled it out and verified that it was broken, haven't gotten around to replacing it yet. And as Oceans13 said the sub is known to go out over time
Hey dear,
I ordered and received new sub (Goldwood), am planning to install it by myself. can you help me about using the original bracket for the new sub? any tips for a proper installation?
and also am planning to replace center dash with the same brand as you posted, will it fit? it looks much bigger than OEM
appreciate your reply boss.

So I did not use the bracket at all. I removed it and took off the flat rubber gasket / oring. I put that on the bottom side of the rim of the new subwoofer, and just dropped it into place.
The weight holds it in place and I have had no issues for years wiith that setup.
I tried but It needed holes to hold the sub into the deck, so I looked and found a way to do it, which is zip ties, it is not the best thing to do but it really holds the sub properly into the deck and I also lined the O ring of the sub with some padding and used Amazon Prime box padding (they use it to protect fragile packages) it is sort of thick sponge padding. I cut and glued multiple pieces to cushion the sub . and It worked! here are some pics.
The old ML sub is gone its not worth the repair kit.
Thank you buddy for your replies
