Default Speedometer

Hey guys. Recently bought a very well taken care of used 1999 GS300 Lexus. Yesterday I happen to be driving down the road and my speedometer completely stopped working. Dropped from 55mph to 0 in no time. Even with me not changing speed. Even when I crank the car the speedometer does not move or budge a inch. It has not moved from 0mph. Need help!!!

Any idea what kind of wire? Just any or does it need to be already in the hood?

I'm guessing any wire will do. A decent gauge not super thin. Has to be thick enough to fit in the slots.

Do you have an ABS light or engine light accompanying this issue?

The ABS light has always been there as long as I noticed.

I'd start there. The ABS issue may have progressively got worse till the speedo stopped working. Check for wheel speed sensor codes and check for loose wheel bearings.

This is on the passenger side of the car. The fuse box. It has ABS No 1 and ABS No 2.
Are those the same thing and what can I do to fix with this fuse box?

Read this thread, gets interesting at post 14:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...eedo-back.html

If your ABS system is showing codes 33 (rear-right) and 34 (rear-left), your speedo doesn't work, and your cruise does work... probably the ABS reluctor rings. $75/axle, seem to remember the axle-carrier dust-rings were about $12/per? Just make sure you have a Dremel, with a few grinding bits.
