Things to do while doing starter replacement
So this weekend I am hopefully going to be replacing the starter on my 99 gs400. I have been fighting the click of death for over a month now so it is time. While I am in there I will be replacing the upper and lower intake gaskets since I have to pull them anyways. What else should I be on the lookout for while I am in there? Any hard to get to and brittle vac lines will be replaced with silicon line I know. Anything beyond that?
Before doing this job. You should blow all derbis out the engine crevices. It will ensure nothing gets into the ports on the heads. I would change the knock sensor out while at it too. I found some good ones on eBay as a set.
I forgot the brand, but they have an M stamped on them.
Also check your fuel injector orings they could be worn out too.
Take care disconnecting the vac lines too under the intake manifold,

I'm not usually in the practice of making a job bigger than it has to be, but since you're taking the intakes off it would be a good idea to clean them out before putting them back on. If you have the intake off, I'd recommend cleaning the O2 sensor.
