Default 2002 GS430 issues

yes I have used the search function and info for the 430 seems few and far between. if I had a 300 I'd be in business. anways.

I think these issues may be related but I'm not sure.

the car seems to be unalining itself. I got new tires and an alinement then about 6 months later I'm bald on the outside of the right front and the left front is looking low compared to the rest of the tire. I don't drive hard or that much really. I might have done 5K miles in that time.

power steering seems to be going. it whines on cold start ups and a little bit when turning after it's warm. this started after it sat outside(normally in a garage) for a few freezing nights. should I even bother trying to flush it?

Head unit back light died. should I just buy a new one or is this pretty common with a simple fix?

my fluid is not low and the pump nor anything else has leaked at all.

on the UBJ and LBJ I'm just looking for the boost to be busted? the tie rods I'm looking for play in the wheel laterally?

thanks for the input.

Hey, if you decide to change out your LBJs and OTRs, go with Moog (555 stamped from Japan)... OEM is great quality but allot of members on here agree that Moog is the way to go on that one... I did as well. As far as headlights, OEM IS NOT bad... Mine has had NO PROBLEMS and I have a 2001 GS430... Take care of that badboy. Very GREAT cars! Happy New Years!

the only other issue related to the GS would be in regards to the toe links, mainly the rear.

the plate in which the essentric bolt/round washer, sits against to offset the toe link for alignment doesnt have big enough dimples in the metal causing them to move out of position. some alignment techs try to make them bigger, so that when they torque everything down, the rear toe stays at where they set. however, it doesnt always work, and sometimes even pops out of position. solution is going aftermarket where the toe link arms themselves are adjustable length.

I jacked the car up and gave it a good visual inspection and tried wiggling things around and everything looks fine. no busted boots or bent anything.

good news about the PS pump. I noticed a small leak on the hose coming from the resevoir. so I topped it off and the noise is gone. so all I have to do is fine a turkey baster small enough to drain out some fluid so I don't dump it all over the floor then replace the hose.

so I just looked up the DIY for the LBJ(ball joint. not the president) and damn that looks easy. I should have ordered them when I ordered my brakes. might as well do them when I do the breakes.damn it paying shipping twice.

pulled the brakes(had to replace rotors and pads) and I got a better look at my ball joints. the drivers side is very bad and the bushings in the control arms are shot to hell. so it looks like I need to replace both and since I'll have the arms off I figured I'll do both LBJ while I'm in there.

I haven't found a single DIY for the control arms. I did a search and looked in the big DIY thread. tips?
