OK I made a mistake when purchasing some Avant Garde M310's.

I didn't factor in the offset, I assumed that everything would be fine for 2 reasons, the dimensions of my previous rims were the same.... 19x8.5 +35 in front and
19x9.5 +39 rear

I intended on just taking the tires off the old rims and putting them on... The previous rims cleared flush , so I assumed these would.
Specs on tires are
235/35/19 Front
275/30/19 Rear

Second reason was I bought them off of a member and they were good with his 2GS.

Installed today, and the rear sticks out a lot. Too much. Can't go over a slight dip in the road with out the rear tires getting shredded.





They look as if they stick out past the fenders.... What would be my BEST option?
Shave? Another tire choice? Another option? I can't drive like this for too long... Tires will be done for if I keep this up.

I'm def not an expert at this. I searched but I really would like to hear best options from you all.

Just for reference , the new wheels are 19x8.5 front +35 and 19 x 9.5 +40 rear...
EDIT : I was told that those were the specs... Upon me actually measuring myself , the front is 19x9.5 and rear 19x11. Guess I should have checked

19x9.5 39mm is actually a very conservative offset.

You can either go with a narrower tire or shave/roll the fenders. Another option is to dial in more negative camber and/or stiffen the suspension.

People commonly run much more aggressive setups than this without any issue. Just takes a little work.

Ok I see the issue.... The gentleman advertised it as 8.5 in front. And 9.5 in rear....

I didn't measure when I met with him... Just took his word. I just decided to run outside and measure...
It's 9.5 in front and 11 in back....

I'm not sure how the mistake was made in the advertising.... Maybe got the specs from online and pasted wrong one....

In any case how do I fix this ?

 

Shave rear fenders or 245 rear tires

 

gotta get some stretched tires AND/OR roll the front and shave the back and you'll be fine

 

Well thats good that you got some wide wheels. If you ever want to resell, people would rather buy wide than narrow.

Just do some fender work and you should be clear. Roll / Shave

 

Kinda was trying to avoid new tires.... And also if I shaved, this wheel still looks kinda out there... What is your opinion on negative camber like bayarealex suggested ?

The car isn't dropped much so would it look weird ?

 

Is shaving going to be all I need ? This thing is like a monster truck...














I'm more upset than anything because this wasn't something I was intending to have to go through.

I expected a swap and bolt on... Not having discussions about negative camber and shaving fenders.

All because of inattentiveness with the description. Shoot if I was aware of the dimensions I wouldn't have even thought to buy em. I don't have a second car so I have to drive this one.

shaving should help with the rears.

and as always, the lower you go the more the wheel cambers in (i.e. // \\ )

 

Nope just lowered on eibach springs. 1.2 in drop.

And yeah I knew about the lower, the more negative camber... I just keep staring at it and see how far it sticks out and can't help but think a simple shave won't help much.

 

I think your original sizing is correct 19x9.5 40+ offset I just did a quick search on their site. You measure the width by the inside of the wheel. within the rim edge where the tire bead is with the wheel, not the lip to lip distance. you are rubbing because your tires are way too wide. and you don't have coil overs to lower your car more to get more camber to tuck in the wheels.

 

No they have 3 different widths for their 19s... 8.5 , 9.5 and 11 offset the same for all.

And also I had 9.5s in the back with those same tires with my MRR HR2s and those were perfect.
That is why when I did my research and the dimensions were all the same , I thought it would fit the same exact way as the HR2s

I measured on the inside of the barrel like you mentioned and Just by visually looking, they are wider than the 9.5.


Should I just take it to get an alignment to get some negative camber ? Or bad idea ?

 

These wheels are advertised all over ebay with the sizes you mentioned but not 9.5 or 11... These are nice wheels.. anyway you can return them and tell them they screwed up?

 

That is not an 11 inch rear wheel. The tires would be slightly stretched. Your rear tires are fitting your wheels the same as when i had a 305 on a 10.5. I really think you have a 9.5 rear. Just sell the wheels or get smaller tires. If you can't afford new tires, then you can't afford to ride around with a ton of camber. 2 months from now you'll be talking about how you burned through your tires with camber wear. Just get some 245/35's.

 

Like everyone else is saying man, 245/35 tires in the rear and you'll be good.
