Default Are GS3s Quick?

Just wondering how quick a stock GS3 runs...feel pretty quick? Are there a lot of mods out there to pump up the HP on them?

I'm used to my supercharged GTP with about 275HP and nice torque.

Vice,

Please check your PM.

The GS3 will definitely feel slower than your GP, but will be a MUCH more luxurious and smooth ride.

I've got to ask the question... why wouldn't you just go drive one to find out how it feels? Personal opinion and 'feel' of a car is a very subjective thing. You aren't going to find that on the internet.

No and yes, respectively.

Go drive one. Be seduced by the luxury that is Lexus............

Thanks guys. I'd go and test drive one today if it wasn't for this darn snow...suppose to get up to 15" by tomorrow.

I just wanted personal opinions on the 300's feel. While my GTP may be faster...I want to be seduced by the luxury that is Lexus. I always liked this car since I saw it in 99 but never had a chance to get one. I have a chance now. Little more classy driving a GS3 then a GTP..hehe...i wanna know how it feels to be bling bling like you guys driving a "fancy pants" car like a Lexus.

Default Just curious...

Any reason why you wouldn't go to a GS400? It's the exact same car but with a bit better power than a GTP , so...a "win-win" for you and no compromises. Yes they're generally a bit more $$$ but in a loan it probably comes down to only a few dollars a month, negligible.

If fuel economy or insurance costs are a concern, well then I see why you'd be more inclined towards a 300.

Good luck any which way.

A friend of mine that I work with has a 2002 GTP. I ride in it all the time and it is definitely faster than my GS300. You really can feel the torque in that car.

However, I wouldn't trade my car for his any day.

I wanna pay cash so I really dont want to go over 24G and the 400s I found cost about 26-33G

I'm ready to switch beauty for power...while theh GP is a nice looking car...it not the same as a sexy lexy.

My sis-in-law has a really nice pearl gs400 with a spoiler for sale. She will sell for 24k! I told her she should ask more, but she won't. It has a tan interior and I drove it last night. It is sweet. You can email me at jm1999@attbi.com if interested.

Ok, here is the deal. I love my GS 300 and really did not care about performance and power when I first bought it. I was amazed by how quiet it was and how nice it was to look at. HOWEVER, a week before taking my pearl GS into my home I test drove a 98 GS400, silver, with Nav that a guy was asking $28,500.00 for ( 40k miles ). While driving it he insisted that I floor it and I did, I was amazed by how fast this car was. I am also a gadget guy and thought the Nav system was soo cool. Anyway, I offered him 27k cash and he told me he would accept it but would not include the extended warranty. Basically we bickered a while and could not come to an agreement so I stuck to my guns and bought the color I wanted ( pearl white ), just in a GS300. I regret it now, for an extra few thousand dollars I could have bought a GS400 with Nav and Fac HID. I LOVE my GS3 but often think about that GS400 that I could have bought with 300HP under the hood !!!! If you look around and do your homework you can find a GS400 for the price you want, trust me !!!!!!!

Default You should really look at a GS 300

Vice86: Hey I recently posted a story about a race between my 2002 GS 430 and a new GTP (with dealer paper plates on it still).

Here it is just in case you wanna read it.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...threadid=69121

Anyway, I also own a 1999 GS 300 (You can see pics of both cars in Gallery > Member pics > Jerome Baker) . The GS 300 definitely feels fast. Lexus.com rates it in the mid 7's in the 0-60mph test. But with the VVT-i engine, it just feels quicker than Lexus.com rates it (although it's not that snappy from 0-30, but then rockets off). The GS 430 (which I saw you said you were not likely to be buying) is just slightly faster than the lighter supercharged GTP.. so obviously the GS300 is not going to be as fast as the GTP. That's not a bad thing though, considering the GTP spanks most production cars under $50k.. it's not suprising the heavier GS300 is just slightly slower. The ride is great, and the truth is it will hang/beat most vehicles under $50k on the road.. and it's leathal between 80-120 mph.

Copout - I'd love a GS4 but they are a little out of my price range. I can deal with a GS3 and use the extra money for mods. My GTP is a gas sucker...i could imagine what the GS4 is like! I want the GS3 more for its looks then 0-60 or 1/4 mile, ofcourse performance would be a nice bonus

Jerome - I had to reply to your posted thread

If you are basing your decision on the everything other than the performance than you are doing the right thing. Anyway, alot can be done to a GS3 to make it faster. Good Luck with your search and enjoy the snow you just got !!!!!!!!
