Default S2000 vs ????

Hi guys,

I just put up my Acura in our Blackmarket area on the board. I'm getting rid of it in hopes to get an S2000. But outta curiousity (especially for those with this car) u think its a good idea? I feel in love with the S2000 after sitting in it.....havent drove it yet.....i love the sportiness. Also, i love the exclusivity of it here (compared to my Acura at least!). I know they're different cars....granted that, anything u boys can recommend i check out as well???

Oh ya.....anyone interested in purchasing my baby, msg me!

Well, I used to own an MR2, and I frequent their message boards.

MR2 owners are typically VERY hard to convert to other cars, but within the past month, 2 of them have sung the praises of the S2000, even saying it could possibly handle better than an MKII MR2.

So, apparently, they're saying it has excellent track manners, and handles very well. Personally, I don't know if I'd enjoy the lack of torque in traffic, but a test drive will provide that answer.

Both base at $32,200.. very easily go with the G35 imo.

I know....I would've, I was tempted to purchase the G when it came out (almost made a deal) but I don't wanna spend much right now. I'm looking at a few pre-owned S2000. I'll toss in a few grand extra to make up the difference, but I don't want to shell out a whole lot for a new car right now. Unfortunately there are no used G's. Besides, the interior of the G coupe is just not to my liking at all. Maybe I'm too spoiled with my GS's interior, but the G35c pales in comparison to my Acura as well. I love the way the S2000 fits right around me too.

you'll love the s2000 when you test drive it....i can guarantee it....i got one a few months ago and i hardly ever drive the GS now. . It handles like no other.., the engine sounds terrific, awesome steering wheel and seats...the downside being that you're going to have to put up with a lot of noise, things rattling, the stiff ride (i actually prefer it), and the lack of torque...things really start to pick up after 6500RPM...when you test drive it..you MUST bring it to near redline to see how fast this thing goes....If you buy a used one, do yourself a favor and get a 2001MY or later. I have the 2000MY and the rear window is plastic and with the way the covertible fold, it folds the plastic as well so now the plastic has a big line in the middle making it very very hard to see out of especially at night.

Bottom line, if you test drive one, be prepare to really really love it. (well..everybody i know that's driven it has been thoroughly impressed) ...it's the ultimate driver's car.....very very very highly recommended

A friend of mine was considering purchasing a S2000 but decided to go with a MR2 after the test drives. He said that the S2000 seats are too deep and that he cant even rest his elbow on the door/window. He just felt that it was an uncomfortable car to drive around. Dont get me wrong, he loved the power but he wanted comfort first because it is his daily driver.

the S2000 is a very fun to drive car. Even sitting in it is fun. It's also great looking.

But I think that's about it. In terms of speed, it's not the fastest car out there (Evo and STi can both KILL the S2000 while costing about the same.) Even my bro's WRX (wagon, automatic) killed a S2000 on the freeway by a fairly large margin.

And some might say a G35c. I think G35c will end up costing more, but it's got the luxury that S2000 don't have AT ALL.

I think if you want a S2000 then you're looking for performance and fun-factor. Fast, I don't know. But certainly fun

btw the S2000 is tiny. I barely fit in there.

yup..you can't rest your elbows on the window unless you have a very very long torso...that kinda bothered me a bit but as I drive more and more, I've learned to keep two hands on the steering wheels since it's so sensitive to any tiny movements.

globe's right..the s2k is not a "very fast" car because the real power is only around7k~8750RPM...the rest of the power band is just a civic (exageratting..but not by much)..you can only compare the EVO/STI with the s2k in terms of price for power because both those cars can torch most cars regardless of price.
I really wish it had a lot more torque..but to squeeze so much into 2.0L is already an amazing feat...120hp/liter...can't find that anywhere else.

If you want to be hard-wired to your car - get an S2000. It's an incredible fun ride. The glass rear window starts in 2002 - not 2001.

Unless it is heavily modded - there's no way a decently driven S2000 would lose to an auto WRX wagon. Sti and Evo are another matter...

Of course it's no Lexus when it comes to comfort and highway cruising... hehe...

And yes, I have a Lexus too ('92 ES300)

Test drive one and you'll know right away if it's the right car for you. If it's for a daily driver - the G35 coupe would be a nice choice as well...
