i had the same problem about a week ago. luckily i had another key (had a dead battery) and swapped the keys. Seems lil plastic clips were brittle as opposed to just the little screw

I had to crazy glue one of my keys back together. It was so badly cracked that it was barely held together with one little strand of plastic. It sucks but at least the key still works the old fashioned way.

And I always have the other key....

I guess it's just inevitable that a key like this will eventually break down from the wear and tear of repeated starting and living in pants pockets/being sat on/etc.

well that's the exact reason I went to actual lexus dealer cause I figured I opened my key wrong last time and thought they would know how to open it carefully but no same thing happened. wonder if they can fix it somehow crazy glue just looks tacky but might be only alternative

Crazy glue doesn't look tacky unless you put it on like a monkey. If you do it clean it will look clean. But, at the end of the day, it's a key to a 10 year old car so I just take it for what it is.

I have some that is formulated to work specifically with plastic. Not sure of the brand or name at the moment but it is really strong and didn't melt the plastic at all. The key is solid as a rock and it was nearly in 2 pieces before.
