GS 400 vs 300 Engine on High Mileage
Can you guys give me an idea of which engine generally holds up longer over high miles? I'm looking to buy a high mile lexus GS300 or 400 2nd Gen with around 100k miles on it. And the price differences arnt too bad between the GS300 and the GS400. So naturally, I'd like to get the model that holds up better over time.
Thanks!
Thanks!

lol, not sure what Taurus you've been driving but 100K is just getting started with these cars.
Either engine if maintained (oil changes, timing belt and water pump every 100K), should last 200K or more.
The 3.0L that comes on the GS300 is considered to be one of the most reliable engines every produced, but I don't think the GS400 is far behind.
best of luck.

I have personally logged 110k miles on top of my acquired 90K I6 motor on my SC & not one issue till I went GTE 3yrs ago. Reg maintenence goes a long, rewarding way. My GS3 was WELL kept by the previous owner so w/o a doubt, it would hold up much more. I rarely climb in the rpm band on my GS so it's a bit stress free too

test drive each one before you decide. They'll both last if taken care of. Don't think the difference is mileage is that much either.
If you plan on little to no engine mods, go 400. If you plan on doing a swap in the future to 2jgte then go with a 300. It will be an easier swap.
Horsepower....You can NEVER have too much!!
