I figured since it is a trans issue... Id post this in the general 2GS section instead of the Performance Section.
Alright... Here's what happened.
I was breaking in the GTE motor, on the highway going for a stroll. Im at about 50mph, I press on the gas pedal halfway, and the trans downshifts, and slowly the boost gauge starts going from 0psi to 4-6-9... I glance at the AFR's and all is good... I am still slowly accelerating... then it hits 25+ psi and the car backfires. I immediately let off and pull over.
My wastegate line popped out along with the ziptie that I had tightly secured (so I thought).
After that... Anytime I put the shifter in Drive... The car takes off in 3rd gear, and then goes into 4th on the highway. Once on the highway... It will downshift to 3rd or even second if I want to get on it. I can put the shifter down into the 1st gear position and have 1st gear... then manually shift into 2nd or 3rd etc... ITS ONLY THE DRIVE POSITION THAT HAS THE ISSUE.
Has anyone experienced this?

Throwing a check engine light or trans light by chance? If electronic control of trans is lost, I want to say it may default to 3 rd gear in D
hardrvin... the CEL is on... but that is because I do not have a o2 sensor plugged in. and to be honest... i am unsure of what ecu is not being used on the car since i bought it last year with the swap in it.

SAM i still went home and hit the snow button and it did go off... but after a while it starts off in 3rd again. Its now hit or miss in 1st gear.

Maybe a problem with the switch or a short or something? Disconnect connector from snow button switch and see what happens

ExploreWell I guess I pushed the limits of the a340e trans on my gte swap. The trans gave up completely on me yesterday. Its not a huge deal... It gives me an excuse to build it later down the road.
