Just went and checked my nav and it's says it's the 2000 ver.1 ....does that mean I have the same prehistoric version that everyone in here is dealing with?

Is it just me or do the GPS in the GS4 suck? I intentionally turned the opposite way while on nav mode. Although there is a detour button, the system does not auto-detour for you if you missed an exist or turned the wrong lane. You would need to press the detour button every single time if you missed an exist.

If you don't, and once you past your destination, the directions disappear and all you have is just the top view of the nav. Great way to get lost if you're not from town.

^ That's because it's using a map from 1999. Detours and recalculations will be way off based since so much has changed since that time. What was once a possible detour is now probably now a park or a lake or whatever has been built, added or torn down. Not to that extreme but you know what I'm getting at.

The nav system from the 98-2000 GS is useless. Unfortunately there is no other way around this other than swapping with an 01-05 DVD based system which takes a little bit of work, but not difficult by any means. The only issue would be to find the necessary parts to make it work. There's a thread for that.
