Would like to upgrade my 2008 RX400h's GPS to the latest version( 10.1?). My current GPS version is 7.1. Does anybody know if it has 'text to speech' feature? That means it will say " right turn on 'Main Street' " instead of just " right turn ". Thanks.
Nope. But an $89 Garmin unit will do all that and more. Honestly, the voice commands and the NAV system in these vehicles suck. (my opinion of course, other's may vary)
I did have a 2011 RX350 as a loaner when my tranny was being replaced and it seemed to do a better job of voice recognition. It didn't have a NAV for me to compare.

Yep, Have a 2011 RX450h w/Nav and also own a 5 yr old TomTom, the TomTom works faster and does all that and more, plus free upgrade. Have done a research to verify the 'text to speech', you're right! Thanks.
Our TomTom (540XXL) is on the dash, directly above our 2007 400h's less-capable Nav. For less than the cost of 1 Toyota/Lexus map update, we have a gps with free map updates 4x a year, free traffic, and best of all, no restrictions on using it while driving.
